As you might know, Beijing ousted Toronto in the final round in voting in 2001 for the Olympics in 2008 (this year). However, with the recent Tibetian crackdowns and global demonstrations, do you think Toronto would've done a better job with the olympics?

There would be less people being brutalized by our Police forces that's for sure.

Honestly though, with David Miller and his happy band of morons running Toronto, they would have made a huge mess out of the event. The city of Toronto can hardly maintain roads, let alone run an Olympics.

summer and winter olympics in one country back to back? I wouldn't support that personally, regardless of which country it is.

And BTW, your poll sucks, since neither is a good answer, what with you having so obviously slanted the choice of China.

How about 'China needs the games to help change the hostile environment and foster a more friendly, equal relationship with the world'?

It would never have happened. The IOC wouldn't have awarded the games to Vancouver if they had endorsed Toronto. Besides, if I recall correctly, the COA didn't even endorse Toronto knowing they had no chance and that it would have damaged Vancouver's chances.
