The National Hockey League is reportedly irked at the group that created The Simpsons.
In other news: It appears someone at the NHL’s head office watches The Simpsons.
The league’s bigwigs sent the animated sitcom’s creators a letter concerning an episode from the show’s ninth season (1998), Mike Scully, one of the show’s executive producers, claimed Monday.
The episode in question – The Last Temptation of Krusty – sees the aforementioned clown character drink from what appears to be the Stanley Cup before vomiting in it during a bender brought on as he battles with his career.
“NHL sent a letter about Krusty drinking out of (and throwing back up into) Stanley Cup, but cool Fox lawyer said to ignore it,” Scully posted to Twitter without specifying when the letter was sent.
FXX is currently running a Simpsons marathon showing each of the series' 522 episodes.
Throughout the show’s 25 seasons, professional athletes across a wide spectrum of sports have appeared on the show.
