Kate Middleton is keeping fit for her wedding day at a gym where Princess Diana once exercised.

The future Queen has been seen working out and dining at the Harbour Club in Chelsea Harbour, west London, which boasts three swimming pools, indoor tennis courts, a beauty spa and a hair salon. The gym is close to the posh Kings Road in Chelsea.

A member of the club, said: "Kate was in the gym last week exercising with a friend for more than an hour. She looked in great shape – incredibly fit and slim."

Princess Diana who, if she was still alive would be Kate Middleton's future mother-in-law, joined the club in 1993 and was often accompanied by her two sons.

When she was killed in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, the club erected a statue of her at its entrance.

Kate Middleton, a commoner whose mother was an air hostess and whose ancestors were coalminers in County Durham), will become Princess Catherine when she marries Prince William on 29th April and will one day become Queen.

She is, though, the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of King Edward III, one of England's most successful monarchs who helped in the evolution of parliament and turned England into Europe's most efficient military power; the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of King Edward II (who was executed for being gay by having a red-hot poker inserted into his anus in 1327); and the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of King Edward I, the Hammer of the Scots. Barack Obama is also a descendant of King Edward I, which probably makes Kate and Barack something like very distant cousins.

The secret of who is designing her wedding dress may still be closely guarded, but just how late Middleton retains her enviably slim figure with seemingly no effort, has become a little clearer.

To stay in shape for her wedding to Prince William in April, Miss Middleton is believed to have joined the Harbour Club, the gym in west London where Diana, Princess of Wales exercised.

Miss Middleton has recently been seen working out and dining at the club in Chelsea Harbour, west London, which boasts three swimming pools, indoor tennis courts, a beauty spa and a hair salon.

A member of the club, said: "Kate was in the gym last week exercising with a friend for more than an hour. She looked in great shape – incredibly fit and slim. After her workout, she stayed on and had dinner in the club's restaurant."

Princess Diana visited the same club for regular sessions with a personal trainer, often accompanied by Prince William and Prince Harry.

She joined the club in 1993, after suing the owner of her former gym, LA Fitness in Isleworth, Middlesex, west London, who secretly took photographs of her exercising there which were subsequently published in several newspapers.

Following the Princess's death in a Paris car crash in 1997, the club erected a memorial sculpture dedicated to her at its entrance.

The club has a range of facilities to cater for the most rigorous of exercise regimes, including a state-of-the-art gym with a team of 30 personal trainers, pilates and spinning studios and daily classes including yoga, tai qi and kick-boxing.

The club's spa also offers 'bespoke bridal packages'. The list of treatments reads: "If you really want to look your best for your special day, we can create a bespoke programme of treatments based on your individual requirements for the months leading up to your wedding."

The Harbour Club is close to Miss Middleton's flat in Chelsea, where she is thought to stay when visiting London unaccompanied by Prince William.

While Miss Middleton spends much of her time at the cottage she shares with the Prince in Anglesey, where he works as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot, she is expected to make increasingly regular trips to London for wedding dress fittings and to oversee preparations for her marriage on April 29.

Clients at the Harbour Club, where membership costs up to £2,500 a year, include the actress Leslie Ash, the pop singer Sinitta and the DJ Pete Tong.
