Tucson Survivor Arrested for Death Threats to Tea Party Spokesman

During a town hall meeting today, that will air tomorrow on ABC’s “This Week with Christiane Amanpour,” a survivor of last Saturday’s massacre in Tucson was arrested for making death threats against a Tea Party spokesman.

Eric Fuller, a disabled veteran who was shot in the knee and who has been making the media rounds — is charged with making threats, intimidation, and disorderly conduct.

During the ABC event, Fuller took a picture of the Tucson Tea Party spokesperson Trent Humphries with his cell phone and said, “You’re Dead.” Deputies immediately escorted Fuller from the room.

This is not to say everything is the Tea Parties fault by any means however they did set
the tone for incivility prior to the elections. It was Tea Party members out there talking
about have no compromise they were just going to take America back and join the ranks
of the middle twentieth century. On the other side there was name calling as well but the
biggest problem the left created is they didn't take these rowdy mouthpieces seriously
and that is as much of a problem as anything.
The fact is no one should be faced with threats of bodily harm or death for having a different
opinion. Those who condemn the Tea Party and other conservatives now stoop to the level
they themselves condemn, it is time for people to understand, there has to be compromise
if there is going to be democracy.

He was arrested, as he should be. His defense will be "it was a figure of speech, just ask Sarah".

"You're dead" is not a metaphor.

Of course he should be arrested.

I do not understand why this silliness about language and attitude is still being debated when it is increasingly clear that the shooter was apolitical......simply nutty.

I do think there is a place for a discussion on civility, and I certainly think that political polarization is a serious problem in the USA, but blaming the right for Gifford's shooting, or blaming the left for this threat is simply not on.............

Too much talk and not enough action. Democrats need to load up and take aim at wingnuts and purge the country of their nasty control freak ways. No more negotiation, just point and pull the trigger on these targets so that normal everyday folk can go back to enjoying themselves without the threat of minority take overs as we see happening in the House. Canada should follow suit. Bring the war to the vicious neocons and show just what a world built on fear is.

Unforgiven,

you will regret those words! As our Prime Minister said: "There is a continental culture. There is a Canadian culture that is in some ways unique to Canada, but I don't think Canadian culture coincides neatly with borders."

We have plans for Anschluss.

lol +1

"You're dead" is not a metaphor..............

Was he directing it to the person, or to the political party he represents.. the Tea Baggers??

I would have to say the Tea Baggers in general are dead.. dead in the water, polically speaking. This Arizona shooting has directed allot of anger towards the Tea Party's gun-toting anti-immigration rhetoric and Palin their de facto leader.

Wishful thinking...

From the biased media to the progressive left in general everything Palin has done since she became a vice presidential candidate and put some life into McCain's campaign has been analyzed in detail and they have been on her like a bunch of coyotes over an another animal and since she supported the tea party the hate was transferred to them...and it even more rabid now since she and the tea party were instrumental in such a win in November for the republicans

DaSleeper, trust me Palin is finished and the Tea Party is just a fad..

I was a huge supporter of McCain/Palin during the election, but now she has become annoying... I voted for her and McCain, but now I just wish she would crawl back into her bear den for the winter.. lol

The Arizona shooting is a prime example how Palin, even during a tragedy such as this still manages to try and get attention, and deflect blame...

She is smart, there is no doubt about that..

as I posted on my website and a few forums during the election..
Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama

hostsearch.ca palin - Google Search

I use to be a huge supporter of Palin... not anymore.. she is a turn off.. at first not so much after the election.. now... please just go away Palin

-----------------------------------------------

She would have been the first VPILF - lol

Man that gun show did well over the weekend in Tucson though! I do wonder though, with all the gun super enthusiasts, why didn't anyone quick draw on the shooter when he was taking out all those people? Wasn't is some old lady that took him down or something like that?

Arizona shooting has put fear into everyone, so they are buying up protection..

Just remember, for a minute and ex-military guy knocked down the shooter and had picked up the gun... a young fella in the crowd who had a gun was about to shoot the ex-military guy..

If everyone had a gun it would have been a real old time shoot out like the O.K. Corral.. lol

I think they call that Friendly Fire in military terms... and those are professionals in the military.

Seems like a good idea to hold democratic gatherings at gun shows. Perhaps that's the answer.
