Re: The Coulter Challenge!!!Mar 30th, 2010
Here it is folks!
Ann Coulter interviewed by Michael Coren.
I challenge you, watch it, go to youtube for all 5 parts, then carefully consider whether this speech needs to be suppressed, fer God's sake.
I agree with about 95% of her points, if not more, and am embarassed that I did not defend her more enthusiastically before........
YouTube - Michael Coren with Ann Coulter - part 1
On the comments with regards to converting them all to Christianity, she still doesn't make it clear what she intends. Does she mean the government should be involved? If so, what about the separation of church and state? And if not, then in what other contexts? Also, she shows considerable religious prejudice in assuming that somehow Christians will necessarily have better relations with the US. Many Lebanese Christians, for example, tend to have close ties with Hamas.
And as for racial profiling, I can agree with her to some degree, but again, many Sikhs could look just as Arab as many Indonesians can look quite different from Arabs.
She did have ideas I'd agreed with, but I think my main issues are with her religious prejudices and also her tact. Often, even when I agree with what she says, it's the way she says it that makes me cringe at times.
She did have some very good points about discussing ethnic issues. I find that the left has become way, way too sensitive about such issues. I've had friends of different backgrounds for many years, and can say that we've sometimes had candid discussions about racial, ethnic, and other such issues. One point that often came up was how they would be offended by a person who tried too hard to not offend them. They're not that fragile. Of course real racism against them will be even more offensive, but fear of offending them is essentially equally racist.
So I'd say that video is a mixed bag. Some I'd agreed with, some not.
