Statistics Canada is a prime source of manipulated data that we are all familiar with. Possibly why they are called statistics Canada instead of facts Canada.
Their reporting of employment figures is a prime example. When your EI expires you are no longer unemployed by their reporting methods.
Another one is how they figure if the cost of living is going up or down. They remove all the volatile items from their basket of goods. So if interest rates and gas both spike by their reporting methods this does not represent an increase in the cost of living even though both are a direct hit on the wallet.
