Anarchist manifestation in Krakow during government celebrations for the 20 years after fall of communism. Polish government organized 4 June celebrations all over country for 20 year anniversary of first vote and fall of communism. Everywhere there is talk about how Poles struggled for the freedom ... which only brought 20 years of widening class divisions.

Polish government organized 4 June celebrations all over country for 20 year anniversary of first vote and fall of communism. Everywhere there is talk about how Poles struggled for the freedom ... which only brought 20 years of widening class divisions. During year of crisis, when close to one million people lose jobs, we only hear the government propaganda of how Poland brought end of communism to Europe and government wastes money organizing grotesque spectacles like free concert of Kylie Minogue and Scorpians in Gdansk which is supposed to help people forget that great Gdansk shipyard, birthplace of Solidarity, is destroyed by bureaucrats at European Commission. Donald Tusk could not make his celebration in Gdansk like he planned because shipyard workers say he is disgrace to legacy of workers' struggle. Prime Minister instead moved his celebration to Krakow where anarchists made protest.

Anarchists do not accept that introduction of "free elections" in Poland created the democracy because we believe real democracy is not representative democracy and cannot be achieved by voting. Demonstration, which was few days before European elections, had strong anti-voting message. Anarchist Federation lead march with the slogan "Without us there is no democracy". Also organizing this demo was ZSP and IP. A few hundred of persons came.

Besides theme of democracy and voting, there were other themes. Tenants group came with demands about housing. ZSP group made calls for class war and had problems with police. There were more police than protesters, but demonstration was peaceful.

PRL was not communism, current system is not freedom. Then was bad, now is bad. We, anarchists, have enough of stupid state functions, enough of their history, enough of all politicians, whatever party. Down with all governments and long live anarchy!!!
