OTTAWA - Almost three-quarters of Canadians say they are "truly scared" for the future of the country and a solid majority say they would prefer another election to having the minority Conservative government replaced by a coalition led by Stephane Dion, a new Ipsos-Reid poll says.
The poll also indicates Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservatives would romp to a majority victory with a record 46 per cent public support if an election were held today.

I'd like to see both Dion and Harper stand up at a press conference, humbly apologize to all of us for everything, and immediately resign. Have the Conservatives and the Liberals choose new leaders, THEN have an election. Rick Mercer on The Mercer Report this evening aptly characterized Harper as a mean little man obsessed with revenge, and Don Ferguson on the Air Farce this evening compared the coalition to a menage a trois with a weasel, a skunk, and a porcupine: hard to control, guaranteed to stink, lots of little pricks. I think that about covers it. And in the meantime, let's all be grateful for the quality of the comedians this country produces, and the freedom that allows them to say such things.

Jeez, what a small world. One of my closest and best-loved relatives was the President of the college there for years, I know the place well, and I've met Abbot Peter and Brother Neil and a Thomas, I was never sure whether he should be addressed as Father Thomas or Brother Thomas. I'd have PM'd you on this with more detail, but you're not receiving, so I'm doing it here. When were you there?

I see no purpose to having yet another election that will decide nothing.

The conservatives, although have made gains largely due to the fear factor, will not get the majority they seek...

The public will come to realize that this whole mess was brought on by the conservatives, and that undermining our democratic process by proroging Parliament to save Harper's job, and stirring up yet another unity crisis were extemely irresponsible things to do...even with a rabid coalition ready to kick him in the can...

What I would have liked to have seen instead of the all the bull**** and drama was a concerted effort by the conservatives to work with the opposition parties to arrive at a proper stimulus package...retracting their partisan bull**** from the FU was only part of what they needed to do to mollify the opposition...and if they had sincerely offered to work with the opposition on Dec 1, 2 or 3, this could have been avoided...unfortunately sincerity is not a trait of our sitting Prime Minister...

So then what we're left with is that they all acted like children and created a **** storm that has no prospect of a favourable outcome...

An election is going to do nothing to fix this now...

Mister ,let m tell you something .I have immigrated to Canada in 1964 .Then ,it was a great country ;envy of the world .The destruction of Canadian economy started in the year of 1968 and has bin gong on ever since with a small periods of time when it head a chance to recover ...... a little because of proper management .
what we need is for the bastards to get to work at fixing the economy before it's too damn late..
Are you too stupid to be a part of "fixing of the economy ," by going to work and doing something productive for your country? Don,t have a job .....why? Too stupid to create your own employment ? Here in China over 60% of the population is self employed ; from a street vendors to a serious business owners .Or maybe you think that you are something special and you don't have to work and it's up to the government to feed you and to give you a place to stay.Bull ,the economy will be great when we get rid of bastards like your honorable self.

Canadians Call for an Election
Below, highlights from a new Canada-wide, COMPAS Research poll on the recent turmoil in the House of Commons. The complete report can be downloaded at Welcome to Compas Public Opinon and Customer Research. Permission is granted to publish or broadcast results provided COMPAS Inc. is appropriately cited.

By a more than 2:1 margin, Canadians call for another election if the choice faced by the Governor-General were between inviting Stephane Dion to form a government and hold a fresh general election weeks after the most recent one. That is the key finding from a national representative poll completed December 4, 2008.
If an election were held today, Stephen Harper would win a large majority based on nation-wide support of 51% compared to 20% for the Liberals, 10% for the NDP, 6% for the Greens, and 8% for the Bloc. Harper would sweep seat-rich Ontario with 53% of the vote compared to 24% for the Liberals and 10% for the NDP in that province and would surpass Dion in Quebec with 32% of the vote compared to 19% for the Liberals and 35% for the Bloc.
Key factors in this lightening speed transformation of public opinion:
66% of Canadians oppose the Bloc Quebecois having a say in who forms the government;
48% have confidence in Stephen Harper as Prime Minister in the current economic climate compared to 14% for Michael Ignatieff in second place, 11% for NDP leader Jack Layton, 8% for Stephane Dion, 4% for Bob Rae, and 3% for Gilles Duceppe;
54% believe that the Coalition's real motivation was a power grab while 28% perceive the Opposition as honestly believing that Harper is a poor manager of the economy; 61% believe that the Liberals, following their drop in support in the October election, should not be trying to form a government.

Peacefully or by force these asholes should be eliminated from the Canadian government They have no business to tell Canadians how to run our country . Furthermore they should return all the money that they have received from the Canadian government ; they have not helped our country even an iota .
Wake up Canadians ,we are not children ,let's act like adults ,the whole world is watching .

I'm not sure how they were able to arrive at those figures, for one thing nobody asked me. If you take away "The sky is falling" crowd, you would find the figures to be quite a bit lower. AS for calling an election now who the Hell wants to listen to politicians lies, promises and other b.S. night and day over Xmas? Or to flush another $300 million down the toilet? Not me. You really want Dion as P.M.? NOt me. I think we should give Harper one year and then see where we are at and what the financial situation is. One thing for sure, it's not going to be a Canadian political who makes or breaks the world economy we are tangled up in.

I don't though...
