Though no child died last month due to kidney-related problems, the Chinese Health Ministry said in a press release that six of the infants still in hospitals are in serious condition.
More than 43,000 children have recovered from medical treatment since the milk powder, produced by dairy firm Sanlu Group, was found to contain the banned chemical melamine.
Later inspection involved several other dairy producers.
According to the ministry, on Wednesday 203 children were hospitalized and 764 were released.
