The Pentagon’s alarming project: Avian Flu Biowar Vaccine

By F. William Engdahl

Global Research, August 14, 2008

There is alarming evidence accumulated by serious scientific sources that the US Government is about to or already has ‘weaponized’ Avian Flu. If the reports are accurate, this could unleash a new pandemic on the planet that could be more devastating than the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic which killed an estimated 30 million people worldwide before it eventually died out. Pentagon and NIH experiments with remains in frozen state of the 1918 virus are the height of scientific folly. Is the United States about to unleash a new racially selective pandemic through the process of mandatory vaccination with an alleged vaccine "against" Avian Flu?
There is reason to believe that sections of the international pharmaceutical industry cartel are acting in concert with the US Government to develop a genetically modified H5N1 virus substance that could unleash a man-made pandemic, perhaps more deadly than the 1918 ‘Spanish Influenza’ pandemic claiming up to 30 million lives.1
Rima E. Laibow, MD, head of the Natural Solutions Foundation, a citizen watchdog group monitoring the pharmaceutical industry states, "Our best intelligence estimate is that pandemic Avian Flu has already been created through genetic engineering in the United States, fusing the deadly genome of the 1918 Pandemic, misnamed the ‘Spanish Flu’, with the DNA of the innocuous H5N1 virus in a growth medium of human kidney cells, according to the National Institutes of Health and the vaccine’s manufacturer. Some virologists believe that this would insure that the man-made mutant virus recognizes human cells and knows how to invade them." 2
If true, as Laibow points out, "A basic virological fact that the public has not been told is that it is impossible to make a vaccine against a virus that does not yet exist. Public relations efforts to the contrary, IF a vaccine is being made against the Avian Flu virus in its pandemic form, that means that the pandemic virus must already exist, period, end of discussion."3
The genome of the 1918 pandemic, the so-called "Spanish Flu", was recently intentionally resurrected by the United States government from a frozen corpse that died of the flu in 1918 in Alaska. Because of that resurrection, both the Avian Flu, and its "vaccine" are now a significant threat to public health.
The Spanish Flu, which was not Spanish at all, was created in the US through an early bioweapons program and injected into healthy young men (i.e., ’soldiers’) as the first mandatory vaccination in the military during World War I. The "Spanish Flu", which originated in Kansas on US Military bases, was one of the deadliest pandemics in modern history. It was also one of the most successful biological weapons ever created, until now.Aspartame and Tyson Foods doubts
To date, there have only been around 385 human cases of Avian Flu identified worldwide (assuming those identifications are trustworthy, of course), with 243 deaths. To put the absurdity of this effort into perspective, Laibow points out, Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD), which researchers believe is heavily associated with aspartame consumption, is a leading cause of death which, according to the CDC, for example, killed 460,000 Americans in 1999 and the numbers keep rising (www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5106a3.htm.)

AP: Government Drafts Pandemic Flu Plan
AP Exclusive: Bush Administration Forecasts Massive Disruptions if Pandemic
Flu Reaches U.S.
By NEDRA PICKLER
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Employers should have plans to keep workers at least three feet
apart, colleges should consider which dormitories could be used to
quarantine the sick, and flight crews should have surgical masks to put on
coughing travelers under a draft of the government's pandemic flu plan
obtained by The Associated Press.

The Bush administration forecasts massive disruptions if bird flu or some
other super-strain of influenza arises in the United States. A response plan
scheduled to be released at the White House on Wednesday warns employers
that as much as 40 percent of the work force could be off the job and says
every segment of society must prepare.

"The collective response of 300 million Americans will significantly
influence the shape of the pandemic and its medical, social and economic
outcomes," says an undated 228-page draft version of the report that had not
been finalized. "Institutions in danger of becoming overwhelmed will rely on
the voluntarism and sense of civic and humanitarian duty of ordinary
Americans."

An outbreak could lead to a variety of restrictions on movement in and
around the country, including limiting the number of international flights
and quarantining exposed travelers. But the government does not foresee
closing U.S. borders to fight the spread of flu, in part because it would
only slow the pandemic's spread by a few weeks and because it would have
such significant consequences for the economy and foreign affairs.

It's impossible to predict when the next pandemic will strike, or how great
its toll might be. But concern is rising that the Asian bird flu, called the
H5N1 strain, might lead to one if it eventually starts spreading easily from
person to person.

So far, H5N1 has struck more than 200 people since 2003, killing about half
of them. Virtually all the victims caught it from close contact with
infected poultry or droppings.

The government is preparing for a worst-case scenario of up to 2 million
deaths in the United States.

With no border restrictions, pandemic influenza would arrive in the United
States within two months of an outbreak abroad, the document estimates. But
models of influenza's spread suggest that sealing the U.S. border would not
only be impractical 1.1 million people cross the nation's 317 official ports
of entry daily but it would only delay the inevitable by a few weeks, it
says.

Ship and plane captains already are required to report certain on-board
illnesses upon arrival, but crews would be trained to take such steps as
putting a surgical mask on a traveler who is coughing.

The new document calls mandatory quarantine a last resort, and urges
planners to consider, for example, that closing a community would sever it
from the delivery of groceries and other essential goods.

The report aims to energize the private sector, noting that 85 percent of
the systems that are vital to society, such as food production, medicine and
financial services, are privately run.

Not only would sick workers stay home, but so would anyone who was caring
for ill family members, under quarantine because of possible exposure to the
flu or taking care of children when schools shut down. The same could go for
anyone who simply feels safer at home.

Included in the report's advice:

Employers should have workers remain at least three feet apart or otherwise
limit face-to-face contact to limit the flu's spread, including by working
from home or substituting teleconferences for office meetings.

Colleges should consider whether dormitories could be used to house or
quarantine the sick, and establish mandatory sick-leave policies for anyone
exposed to the flu.

The report envisions possible breakdowns in public order and says governors
might deploy National Guard troops or request federal troops to maintain
order. The military also could be activated to enforce travel restrictions
and deliver vaccines and medicines, the report says.

Last fall, President Bush announced a $7.1 billion strategy to fight the
next flu pandemic, focusing largely on public health preparations, including
plans to stockpile enough bird flu vaccine for 20 million people and
anti-flu drugs for 81 million. So far, the stockpile contains enough vaccine
for 4 million people and medication for 5 million.

This new report is Step 2, outlining how every branch of government would
have to work with federal health officials to try to contain a pandemic and
minimize its damage to the economy and society. By early next month,
government agencies are to release the specific steps they plan.

The report attempts to settle any turf battle within the administration,
saying the Health and Human Services Department would lead the government's
interagency response effort and the Homeland Security Department would have
a secondary role to assist with the health response and non-medical support.

AP Medical Writer Lauran Neergaard contributed to this report.

The bird virus is called H5N1.Does anyone know what the numbers and letters mean? Why does a virus attack only certain species, like this one only birds? Are our cells not very similar in function? Thanks
Answer 1:
One of my students last year was really interested in the "bird flu" ("avian influenza", H1N5), and wrote his senior thesis on it, so I know something about it. H1N5 is a strain of the influenza virus (or "flu" or short). As you know, the influenza virus can infect humans, but there are MANY strains of this virus. There are multiple strains that can infect humans, but there are also strains that infect birds (chickens, ducks, turkeys), pigs, etc. The "flu shot", which changes every year, is meant to be a vaccine for the three influenza strains that scientists think will be the most common or dangerous that year. It is a guess based on data from doctors and scientists that monitor influenza infections around the world. There are two types of influenza that can cause epidemics in humans: Influenza A and Influenza B. Influenza A is further divided into subtypes based two antigens (molecules that stick up on the surface of the virus that your body's immune system uses to recognize and destroy the virus particles). One antigen is called hemagglutinin (the H part of H1N5) and one is called neuraminidase (the N part of H1N5). To date, there are 16 different H types and 9 different N types! Influenza B is not divided into subtypes.

Scientists that study viruses ("virologists") believe that, in general, viruses tend to infect only one species of organism. That is, viruses are usually species-specific. Influenza is an exception. Almost every organism is known to be vulnerable to viruses (there are exceptions), so that means there are viruses that only infect certain species of bacteria, viruses that only infect certain species of plants, etc. This makes them very diverse. We, as humans, have our own unique set of viruses. Occasionally, a virus will mutate and be able to jump from its usual host to another host (e.g. from chickens to humans). This is what happened with HIV. What started out as SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) jumped from monkeys to humans, and has mutated into two different HIV (or Human Immunodeficiency Virus) strains, HIV-1 and HIV-2 that are transmissible by human-to-human contact. Virologists can tell this by comparing the genetic code of the SIV and HIV viruses. The ability of a virus to jump from animals to humans is affected by the similarity of the animal's immune system to humans (monkeys and humans are pretty similar) and their degree of contact with humans (humans can get more viruses from domesticated animals than wild animals, e.g.). The same thing that happened with SIV is currently happening with H1N5. This virus attacks several species of birds, but can also "jump" to humans. So far, the virus hasn't mutated enough for it to be transmissible from human to human, which means you can only get it by handling sick or dead birds, or by eating their meat. If it does mutate enough so that it becomes a new virus specific to humans and transmissible between humans, then it will be very dangerous.

To date, those that have contracted H1N5 are people working with sick chickens (poultry farmers) or people that eat sick chickens. Human cases have largely been confined to Asia (9 different countries) and, most recently, Europe (Turkey - no pun intended - and Romania). What makes H1N5 special, and what has everyone worried, is that when H1N5 does infect humans, it has a high mortality rate. Also, it is known to infect wildfowl (ducks, e.g.) without any symptoms, so a duck could visit a poultry farm, pick up the virus, then fly to other poultry farms and spread the virus to uninfected chickens. Ducks are migratory, so could be a real problem. Scientists are scrambling to control the virus in countries where outbreaks are common, in the hope that if we keep the number of infected people down, the chance of the virus mutating and becoming a new, deadly influenza strain in humans will be small. Some scientists are comparing this new strain of influenza to the strain that killed so many people in 1916. That particular strain was very lethal for young, healthy people with good immune systems (the strain basically used the person's own immune system to them off). Young people in their 20's were literally dropping dead in the streets. We knew much less about medicine back then, so hopefully this new influenza strain won't get that bad if it does manage to become transmissible from human-to- human contact. Cross your fingers.

Check out what the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has to say about influenza:
http://www.cdc.gov/flu/
and avian influenza:
http://www.cdc.gov/flu/avian/gen- info/facts.htm.
Answer 2:
The bird flu virus is known as an avian influenza type A virus, which means that it is a flu virus that infects birds. The designation of Type A indicates that it is the kind of virus that can cause a pandemic. The problem is that there may be many different kinds of avian Type A flu viruses that infect birds! To solve this problem, when a virus is discovered it is usually named according to particular unique characteristics of the strain. Thus H5N1 refers to some particular characteristics of the proteins that are in this virus: H5 stands for “hemagglutinin type 5”, which is a protein that helps the virus stick to the cell it wants to infect, and N1 stands for “neurominidase type 1”, which a protein involved in helping the virus break open an infected cell to spread more viruses. So, if a scientist comes across an avian flu virus, he can do some biochemical tests to determine what type of hemagglutinin and neurominidase proteins it has to determine if it is the H5N1 flu.

In order for a virus to infect a cell, it must be able to attach itself to the outside of the cell. In order to do this it has some little “sticky” proteins on its surface. However, these proteins don’t just stick to anything. They have to match up with another kind of protein on the surface of the cell that they can then stick to. If the cell doesn’t have those matching proteins, the virus can’t stick to the cell and infect it. After the virus has managed to stick to the cell, it also has to inject its own RNA or DNA into the cell, and then it has to “take over” the cell. If the cell isn’t the right kind of cell, the proteins of the virus won’t be able to take over the cell. Even though birds and humans have similar cells, it may be that human cells just don’t have the right sticky proteins and other parts for the virus. You can think of it like a jigsaw puzzle: when you look at all the pieces of the puzzle in the box, they all look similar and work the same. However, if the parts of two pieces don’t match exactly right, they won’t fit together! If the virus parts and the human cell parts aren’t exactly right, the virus can’t infect the cell.

Did you know that your own body has a similar system in it? Your immune system works in much the same way. There are special cells traveling around inside your body that look for invaders like bacteria and viruses. If the cells find an invader, they will attack and destroy it! But how does your immune system recognize a bad invader from a normal cell that belongs there? It looks for strange, unfamiliar proteins on the cells! If it encounters a cell with some weird proteins it hasn’t seen before, then chances are that is one that is an invader that doesn’t belong there!

Hi, Michael;
you expose a real serious problem! Do you remember that the British soldiers were treated likewise decades ago? I know this because my childrens' godparents were from England and gave us literature from a group who had done research about the deaths and illnesses of British service men. It helped us parents to strengthen our resolve not to have our children vaccinated.
These things get hidden from the public!:x

Sorry, Michael, I forgot HOW young you are! ;-) You are right around the ages of my four girls... so, you wouldn't and couldn't know about that. But I would think that the information was available in later years as well. It was underground news, though.
