Well, I am probably going to offend somebody in the process of proving i'm a dinosaur but, let me say this about that:

If you are a man that thinks you are a woman trapped in a man's body, what you need is a psychiatrist, NOT a surgeon.

And when the psychiatrists realize that it's an incurable problem, and the only solution is to meet the gender wiring that's taken place? When research has shown that hormone levels during pregnancy impact gender expression REGARDLESS of society's expectations?

When all those criteria have been met, what then Colpy?

Yeah, I mean, I'm iffy about the government covering this proceedure, but it's very possible something can occur during development that your DNA gives you a male body with female brain patterns/thought processes and the sort..... Could one classify that as a possible birth defect? *Shrugs* But either way, when you're putting up therapy against hardwired thinking based on what I would attribute to instincts from the day you were born, which cause someone to think or have interest in a certain way, then chances are, you're not going to solve a whole hell of a lot.

That's like going to therapy because you're black and people keep telling you, you should be asian.

There are situations in which this should be covered, for sure.

There is a condition in which the unfortunate appears male, but has an extra chromosone, an XXY if you will...........that makes them very female in every aspect except the sex organs.

There are also hemaphrodites......

I'm far from knowledgeable on this subject, but if you are physically, hormonally, and genetically male........it's the psychiatrist I'm willing to help pay for.......the surgeon should be out of your own pocket....

Now that's a strictly moral judgement on how their treatment should proceed. Because it's certainly not cost effective. We can't change the wiring of someone's brain that drastically, but, we can change their body for them, for a lot less money than a lifetime of psychiatric treatment.
