Quoting karrie
You seem to be assuming that a fancy infrastructure and large building make a good school.

I'd rather my kids were in a smaller school, where all the teachers are familiar with the students, than in a shiny spanky new building with so many classes that teachers can only possibly have time to remember a quarter of the faces that roam their hallways.
Infrastructure and a large building have nothing to do with it. My best learning was done at a two-room school in Kirkfield Ontario. The difference was in teachers who cared about the kids, teachers who took the time to teach - individually if need be, and teachers who treated that kid like a human. When there's lots of openings, you don't have the quality of teacher. Unionization further waters it down because the teacher knows the job is safe. Then, it all comes down to money.

Yeah but wolf, in a situation like my children's school, sure, it's a seperate school division, but it's full classes. You'd need the same number of teachers, even if you put all the kids into one public school. So the only difference would be a larger building, and no religion.

I go to private school, a religious school (Christian based school).
They teach evolution but no creationism whatsoever. It has ranked relatively high by the board and we comply to all the curriculum demanded by the school board in Niagara region.
Also, it has ratio of 19:1 kids and each year, the school is increasing its tuition fee by $500 and about $100~200 has been increased for bus cost per year ($1,500 for family price).
However, I am opposed to funding religious school ($400 million a year). Why? Simple, Canada is multicultural society and if we extend so much funding into private schools (religious schools), it would only worsen situations in public school. We have one of the best education system in the world, praised by UNICEF.

Gawd, ya gotta love it when they do that.

Does John Tory have to change his name if he crosses the floor?
