Well, from what I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, the RCMP are the reason Arar got sent back to Syria and tortured. That makes the RCMP obligated to apologize to Arar.

The RCMP gave false information to U.S. Immigration and then Arar got shipped to Syria and tortured. It is the RCMP's fault.

Shoddy Police work pure and simple at it's best. God help those who are innocent and the RCMP get you in their sights, how many innocent people have to go to jail for crimes they didn't commit (like Arar) before this organization is held accountable to the public. The RCMP screwed up and had this young man picked up in the States as a Torrist suspect based on "lies" and faulty Intel he was tortured and god knows what damage to his person will be long term. At least the US used the phrase "Terrorist Suspect" Canadian RCMP called him "A person of Interest". He was owed an apology to say the least.
