IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF NO ONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA PURCHASED A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME, IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 46 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, ALL AFFECTING PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED (THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC.). WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DO NOT GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

just got this via e-mail .......and thought I would post it here.

Copy and paste/////////and spread the word. .......

cheers..

I paid $1.06 in Saskatchewan. It was .99 just down the highway though. If only I had known. The thing that really sucks is that both of those co-ops are part of the same group. The cheaper one just hadn't sold all the gas from its last shipment yet. So how come other gas stations don't wait for their next shipment to raise prices?

They did a study of gas prices and found that not only do gas prices go up on Mondays and before long weekends, but that gas prices will go up before the rush hour commute too.

swirling in the abyss of nowhere la
it's 99.7 self serve reg here blech! Ours can only change price 2 times a month though, they just ratified the taxes a year ago so it wasn't a flat rate, but I think that they may go back to the flat rate to be re-elected.

It's 105.9 cents a litre where I live, almost exactly half what a European friend of mine pays; regular gas in Rotterdam when I spoke to him on the phone last week was 1.49 euros a litre.

$1.06 doesn't seem too bad to me.

That's true, Dexter. European prices are a lot higher than here. They do tend to have alternatives though. Where I live there is no bus service to speak of.

Alll you hear is the lack of refining capacity .This is a total lie in Canada  I spent three years of my life shutting down Shell,Esso, and Petro Can refinerys on the West coast and the rational for these closures they had more tham enough capacity in Alberta 8O Were being sold a lie on this one people  They can make more than enough gas

Yep. Their cities are relatively smaller too, according to what I've seen at Google Earth. They don't seem to have the sprawl North American cities have; things appear more compact and closer together, so walking's an option more often for them. Public transit seems to be better organized too, according to what I hear, and the bicycling season's a lot longer in most European locations than it is around here.

I don't think I believe that stuff about lack of refining capacity either. Actually I tend to doubt most things any "authorities" tell me. A hangover from growing up in the '60s, perhaps...

Nationalise our major resources like lumber, oil, minerals and be done with it already. I mean, for chrissake, no private corporation (particularly foreign owned) should be able to rape our land and make obscene profits from what is collectively ours to begin with.

Ya ya, the constitution has a different opinion but it can be changed if the will is there.
