This wouldn’t be an issue if we had the death penalty.

How do you figure that? The death penalty is not a deterrent.

The Crown gave her a plea agreement and wether you or I agree with it or not, thats what the Crown did and now they have to live with the conquences. She did her time and the full time so not much can be done (unfortunatly) now.

Not a deterrent?? I'd say it's probably the highest form ... unless she returns as a bad ghost!

I'm a leftie, but when it comes to guns and the death penalty, my beliefs part ways. I figure anyone with her track record needs to be put down like a rabid dog. I doubt the time in jail did anything to re-wire her brain, and the problem is more than likely still there. Sexual predators have the highest rate of recidivism. Let's hope they keep as close an eye on her as they would a male. There's still a tendency in our society to think women can't be as dangerous as men. I believe in true equality ... I think she's still dangerous.

If it was why are there so many people on death row in America, for example? I have yet to find any study that says "capital punishment" is a deterrent.

All they can do is put restrictions on her

How? She did her time. She is not going to be on parole. The Crown fucked up. The lower courts may put restrictions on her but the higher courts will over turn it.

She should of got life but the crown made a deal with her and they can't change it after the fact. They are just doing this for public relations.

Well I think they could have, I could be wrong, but she already signed the agreement, and part of that agreement was that she had told the truth and left nothing out. Later, she just happened to remember Jane Doe....said she truly had blocked that one out.

It wouldn't be a deterrent for other people but it sure keeps her from killing for sex again.....

I'm all for the death penalty for serial killers and serial rapists. And it has nothing to do with correcting or deterring others. IT has to do with keeping me and mine safe. There is NO fixing or curing those people. They are damaged beyond repair and thoroughly enjoy killing or raping. They do it for the pleasure. There is no punishment that is going to make them feel bad for it......

"Another thing she has a pschology degree now. She still could be useful to society. "

OMG! oh yes one could really learn from someone who raped and drugged her own sister in her parents home. Mmmmm makes you wonder what one could have learned from the highly educated ted bundy

oh I know...how to have sex with the person you just murdered.

If a person with a .45 walks up to you and tells you to hand over the wallet or you're going to die....do you say the death penalty isn't a deterrent and walk away?

I figure that because, if we had the death penalty, her boyfriend would have been committed to hell for sure. She may have escaped the death penalty for her spilling the beans, but she would have gotten 25 years instead of 12. In that context we wouldn’t have to be reminded of her so often as she would be looking at another 13 years….I can handle that.

It is interesting the people I thought would be against the death penalty, are for it….

The Crown cut the deal, through plea bargaining...and now they want to revisit the whole thing. Sure, she may be evil...sure,we may all be mad about it..but,she served her sentenced time.
Many other "evil" prisoners choose to serve their whole sentence...precisely because there are few(if any) restrictions on them once they are released.
So,we need to direct our attention to the whole notion of plea bargaining...change that, and perhaps this miscarriage won't happen again.
