Yukon will not fight same-sex marriage ruling

Whitehorse -- The territorial government won't fight the Yukon Supreme Court's ruling to allow same-sex marriages in the Yukon, Premier Dennis Fentie said yesterday.
Deputy Justice Peter McIntyre's ruling changed the Yukon's common-law definition of marriage from a union between a man and a woman to that of a union between two people.
This opened the way for the Yukon government to issue a marriage licence to Robert Edge and Stephen Dunbar, the couple who took the case to court, and to any other homosexual couple who requests one. CP
