When will North Korea learn that it shouldn't bite the hand that feeds it, its closest ally (of convenience)?
If the only reason China is supporting the North Korean regime is the fear that a collapse of that regime could lead to a flow of refugees into China, could we not just all agree on a policy of weakening the North Korean regime maximally but short of regime collapse? Or maybe a carrot-and-stick approach giving the North Korean regime an opportunity to save face through gradual policy changes?
Let's start with this for example: We will open our borders to North Korean trade and tourism if it reciprocates, but on our terms, and we want to see a significantly more open North Korean border.
