Prince George and Princess Charlotte were expected to be the centre of attention on Tuesday at the Royal family's annual Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.
The event, hosted by the Queen, is the Royal family’s traditional start to Christmas before Her Majesty heads to Sandringham for her winter break with Prince Philip.

Dozens of members of the extended Royal family – most of whom do not get an invitation to Sandringham – gather each year for the family get-together.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte arrived in a Range Rover driven by the Duke of Cambridge, with Prince Harry in the passenger seat and the Duchess of Cambridge in the back with her children.

They were closely followed by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, who waved to tourists delighted at the unexpected chance to see so many members of the Royal family.
This year the Queen will not see Prince George or Princess Charlotte on Christmas Day, as they are staying with their parents at the Berkshire home of the Duchess's parents Carole and Michael Middleton.

Prince Harry will be at Sandringham, having waved off his girlfriend Meghan Markle at Heathrow Airport on Sunday, together with his father the Prince of Wales and stepmother the Duchess of Cornwall.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie arrived separately for the lunch, where they were expected to be joined by their father the Duke of York.
