Cracker shoots at Cops, Cops don't shoot back

A UPS company truck driver was fatally shot and run over in a Walmart parking lot in Ithaca this morning.

The 52 year old truck driver, William Schumacher, had started seasonal work with UPS only four weeks ago, hauling packages between processing hubs.

Around 1 a.m. as he made his way back to his truck, a man in a black pickup truck shot him and ran over his body about 200 feet from the store. Said an eyewitness, “A guy was sitting in his truck, and all I heard was a gunshot and looked up, saw the guy fall, and then the guy in the truck backed up, pulled out, ran him over and took off.”

Police attempted to make a felony stop on Barkley’s vehicle, but he opened fire on the officers. Police officers did not return fire and were not injured by the gunfire. After a short chase, Barkley barricaded himself in his home.

After a five hour standoff, police made contact with Barkley via robot and were able to convince him to surrender peacefully.

Seems like the "cracker" is the victim

Schumacher is white and was wearing his UPS uniform when he was killed.

The article doesn't say if the photo is the victim or the perp....

Probably from the slave driver cracking the whip.....
I remember it being a common term in the late fifties early sixties in high school, when I first learned it from probably the first black guy in Kap...
He used to call me Cracker and I'd call him Coon ....In a friendly way...since we used to be the only ones who smoked "roll your own" and nobody could bum cigarettes off us......
