More than 1,200 police and officials in France have begun an operation to clear the "Jungle" migrant camp in Calais.

The camp has been housing at least 7,000 people in squalid conditions.

Migrants queued peacefully to be processed, and the first of some 60 coaches that will carry them to refugee centres across France have now left.

There is concern that some migrants will refuse to go because they still want to get to Britain and that weekend clashes with police could be repeated.

The dismantling of the camp is expected to start on Tuesday.

The UK has begun to accept some of the estimated 1,300 unaccompanied children from the camp.

Calais migrants: France begins to clear 'Jungle' camp

The first group without family ties to the UK has arrived in Britain under the "Dubs amendment" rules, which grant refuge to the most vulnerable.

However, the Home Office said on Monday the transfer process had been paused during the demolition of the Jungle, at the request of the French.

The Jungle migrants are being placed into separate queues to determine who are in families, travelling alone or whether they are in vulnerable categories.

After processing they will leave for various parts of France and be given the opportunity to claim asylum. If they do not, they could face deportation.

There are 7,500 beds being made available in 450 centres across France.

The first coach left less than an hour after processing began - carrying 50 Sudanese to the Burgundy region, AFP reported.

By mid-morning there were long lines at the entrance to the registration centre. French officials said the operation was proceeding well, although Calais' police commissioner said some migrants would have to return to the Jungle and try again on Tuesday.

Parts of the camp were emptying quickly, the BBC's Gavin Lee reported. By about midday, 17 buses carrying 716 people had left.

Officials have predicted that some 2,500 people will leave the camp on Monday.

Children will be housed in the camp's converted shipping containers while the rest of the Jungle is dismantled.

From Tuesday, heavy machinery will be sent to clear the tents and shelters that have been left behind. The whole operation is expected to take three days.

The French interior ministry said it "does not want to use force but if there are migrants who refuse to leave, or NGOs who cause trouble, the police might be forced to intervene".

There are reports that British activists from the No Borders group have travelled to the Jungle to try to disrupt the demolition process.

One Afghan migrant at the camp, Karhazi, told the AFP news agency: "They'll have to force us to leave. We want to go to Britain."

Those leaving had mixed emotions. One Sudanese man shouted: "Our dream is over."

However, Abbas, also from Sudan, said: "I feel very happy. I've had enough of the Jungle."

The Jungle has played host to scenes of both squalor and of violence, as migrants, mainly from Africa and the Middle East, attempt to board lorries bound for the UK, clashing with drivers and police in the process.

A UK-funded wall (0.6 miles long is being built along the main road to the port in an attempt to deter would-be stowaways. The UK government has not confirmed the cost, but it is reported to have contributed about £1.9m (€2.2m).

Work on the wall, which began last month, is due to be finished by the end of the year.

What is the Jungle?

Officially about 7,000 migrants live in the camp. The Help Refugees agency said the final population ahead of its demolition was 8,143

The camp was halved in area earlier this year but the population continued to rise, and reports of violence have increased

The Calais camp is just part of a Europe-wide migrant crisis.

Last year more than one million migrants - many fleeing the civil war in Syria - arrived in Europe. Countries struggled to cope with the influx and division arose in the EU over how best to deal with resettling people.

In March, the EU struck a deal with Turkey to try to stop migrants crossing from Turkey to Greece while Balkan nations closed their borders to migrants. As a result, the number of arrivals using the so-called eastern Mediterranean route has fallen.

However, migrants from African countries such as Eritrea and Somalia as well as west African nations such as Nigeria and the Gambia are continuing to attempt the crossing from Libya to Italy.

Some migrants are seeking economic opportunities in Europe - others are fleeing war, instability or authoritarian governments.

'My dream is dead' - at the Jungle with the BBC's Gavin Lee

Rue des Garennes links the Jungle camp to the new migrant processing centre, and is a street of suitcases and resignation.

At 05:00, three hours before the clearance operation was due to start, groups of refugees and migrants began to form a queue. Since then, a mass exodus from the camp and hundreds are now lining the road waiting for a coach to take them away.

Towards the back of the queue is Adil from Sudan, carrying two bags, a football and a guitar. "My dream is dead, the people you see here, they are broken. We can't believe it's over."

Inside the camp, aid workers from Care for Calais are moving tent to tent, warning migrants that if they don't leave, they'll be arrested.

The police presence is large, with many huddled in riot vans, keeping out of the cold, and making the most of the calm.

Why do migrants want to come to the UK?

Most believe there is a better prospect of finding work. Many want to claim asylum, although others want to enter incognito and remain as illegal workers.

The language issue is also important - many speak English but do not have a European language. Some also have relatives in the UK and that is a big draw.

Some are attracted by a belief that there is better housing and education available.

Some commentators believe illegal migrants also perceive Britain as a "soft touch" for benefits and a better place to find "black economy" jobs, although studies do not necessarily back up this view.

A note on terminology: The BBC uses the term migrant to refer to all people on the move who have yet to complete the legal process of claiming asylum. This group includes people fleeing war-torn countries such as Syria, who are likely to be granted refugee status, as well as people who are seeking jobs and better lives, who governments are likely to rule are economic migrants.

Once this group is settled, I certainly hope that France quadruples their borders and never allows camps to ever be built in their country. Immigration has rules, regs, and most important, lots of planning. Hundreds pulling a 'surprise! I'm here, it's cold and I'm hungry" is chaotic, processing and settling immigrants needs time and order. Ask McCallum, he filled a hotel in Moncton, NB with Syrian refugees, and discovered that the hotel's front doors were way too close to the main street for children, and there were lots and lots of kids! The city had to hire "full time" guards to monitor the doors and protect the kids.

The best thing France needs to do to regain full, proper control of her borders is to leave the European Union.

Home Office figures show two out of three of those elbowing their way to the front of the queue from Calais are lying about their age

KINDLY Alf Dubs must be appalled at the sight of hairy-armed men hijacking his campaign to save children from the rat-hole we call the Calais Jungle.

It was the well-intentioned Labour peer who forced this year’s change in immigration laws to allow hundreds of unaccompanied refugee boys and girls into Britain.

Generous Brits don’t like being conned, says Sun columnist Trevor Kavanagh

Labour peer Alf Dubs must be appalled at the sight of hairy-armed men hijacking his campaign to save kids from Jungle

But he will be even more horrified by charity chief Clare Moseley’s comparison of Calais with Nazi death camps.

“I would not want to trivialise what happened to the Jews because it was so awful,” chirps Clare. “But there are parallels that can be drawn.”

No there aren’t. There are no living skeletons in Calais. There is no smell of burning flesh. Nobody forced migrants into The Jungle at bayonet-point. The showers dispense hot water, not lethal gas.

Clare Moseley might like to pay a visit to Auschwitz and see what a Nazi death camp really looks like.

Perhaps Lord Dubs would show her around.

Nobody knows better about a child’s terror as he flees persecution. As a six-year-old, Alf was one of 669 children who fled Nazi- occupied Czechoslovakia and escaped the Holocaust.

All his friends died in concentration camps.

Now as Lord Dubs, 84, he might be happy to see ANY migrant making a new life here, even stubbly men in their thirties masquerading as kids. But he will surely be dismayed that scores of adults — invariably male — are trampling over the life chances of vulnerable youngsters like he once was.

Brits will help anyone but don’t like being accused of ‘racism’ by the likes of Gary Lineker when they cry foul

Generous Brits will help anyone in need, especially desperate kids with no family. They just don’t like being taken for a ride — or worse, being accused of “racism” by the likes of Gary Lineker when they cry foul.

Home Office figures show two out of three of those elbowing their way to the front of the queue are lying about their age. The process is a sick joke, with cartoonists capturing the image of migrants on zimmer frames going for dental checks, their false teeth in a jar.

The abysmal failure of the Border Force and immigration authorities to sort this out is stoking anger over the abuse of our hospitality.

It has not been helped by attempts to hide the faces of these so-called children behind hoodies, blankets and specially-erected screens. Most migrants have destroyed their passports and other age-revealing ID.

DNA swabs and dental age checks are ruled out as “intrusive”, even though other EU countries use them.

MPs are up in arms, calling for an “urgent inquiry” into the long-predicted shambles. On past performance it will get them nowhere. Despite David Cameron’s promises, immigration is still out of control.

James Hanratty, ex-president of the Council for Immigration Judges, says: “We can’t keep them out and we can’t send them home.

“Forty thousand were denied permission to remain in this country last year alone.

“The devastating truth is the vast majority are still here.”

Prime Minister Theresa May insists immigration must be cut to the ‘tens of thousands’

As Home Secretary and now as Prime Minister Theresa May insists immigration must be cut to the “tens of thousands”.

She also expresses her loathing of modern slavery.

Hanratty warns the Calais crisis is merely the visible tip of a giant criminal underworld seething under our noses.

“Migration is overshadowed not just by human suffering, but by organised crime, fear and deception,” he says.

“There is a huge industry of people-smugglers and bent legal advisers.”

The Calais crisis is merely the visible tip of a giant criminal underworld seething under our noses

Human life means zero to money-hungry thugs who lock pitiful families below decks on leaky boats.

Britain is now home to more than four million newcomers, legal and illegal.

Today, as French bulldozers flatten The Jungle amid demos by pro-immigration activists — many of them British middle- class whites — there will be demands for Britain to open its doors still wider.

Protesters insist there should be no borders at all. Many on the Labour left agree, including Jeremy Corbyn.

But millions think otherwise. They will play their part in humanitarian aid, especially for children.

But they do not believe we should simply take in the countless thousands who have made Britain their destination of choice.

That’s one reason why they voted for Brexit.

And it’s why they expect Theresa May to regain control over our borders . . . as promised.

KELVIN'S CHANNEL $ BATTLE

CHANNEL 4’s Fatima Manji made a fool of herself by accusing my old editor Kelvin MacKenzie of discrimination after she wore a hijab to report the Islamist truck massacre in Nice.

Nobody seeing her in full Muslim headdress could doubt it was provocative of Channel 4.

Absurdly, Ms Manji claims she was “singled out personally by Kelvin MacKenzie because of my religion”. In fact she singled herself out by dressing as she did.

As she told the BBC: “I do wear the headscarf as a symbol of my religious faith.”

She knew precisely what she was doing.

The poll on ctv indicated that more than 70% of the people who voted, voted that the camp should be removed.

Don't hate I only check ctv when there is nothing left to read on other news sites

I'm surprised it's only 70%.

The 30% will all be people who don't live anywhere near it.

One would think a civilized country like France would be able to provide something for refugees that isn't worse than what they left behind. Of Wait, this is the same France that gave Haiti a 250 year debt for winning the war of independence against France. France was given a lot of territory under the UN, perhaps they are just pissed at seeing all that free money evaporated and this is their way of saying 'thank you' to the citizens of the places they helped ruin. (in that if a place you are in charge of erupts into civil war then you weren't doing your job)
Britain is far behind BL. Please respond to the bolded part as I would like to know what kind of training the Queen is giving you people.

UK: '12yo Refugee' Outed As 21yo Jihadist Threatens To Kill His Foster Mom & Her Kids

A "12-year-old refugee child" threatened to murder his foster mom and her children after being outed as a 21-year-old jihadist.

From The Sun:
A FOSTER mum who took in a child refugee has told of her horror after discovering he was a 21-year-old jihadi.

Kind-hearted Rosie welcomed Jamal into her family after social workers said he was a 12-year-old orphan who had fled Afghanistan.

But she became suspicious when she noticed how hairy he was, and how adept he was at firing a rifle.

Jamal was rumbled when a dentist estimated he was a decade older than claimed. Taliban material and child abuse images were later found on his mobile.
This is what these "child refugees" pouring into the UK look like:

I'm ideological sympathetic to immigration and asylum seekers, but this is hard. It doesn't make a lot of sense that you can migrate to France and seek asylum in Britain. The logic behind seeking asylum is to escape persecution, war or hardship from the country you're in, not to seek to immigrate to a specific country. If to these people Britain represents an economic opportunity or the dream of a better life, the classic immigrant story, then they are another category of immigrants and not asylum seekers. I suppose you can be both, an asylum seeker with a dream to immigrate to another country, but you can't use that asylum status to prop up that dream. As cruel as that may seem to those people, it is taking advantage of a system meant to help people at a basic level and that help can be found elsewhere. You can find asylum in France. If you later seek to immigrate, there's another process.

I believe the 'cure' is to make their homelands more like the country they want to move to. (without the persecution they will experience no matter which 'western country' they end up in. That is a solution that will never occur to any western nation as long as their homeland has any natural resources to loot.
How do you not know our ways by now?

We are on track to bring in 300,000 immigrants by end of this year, and the Liberals want 450,000 every year until 2021, in essence the goal is to triple our population to 100,000,000. Apparently it is required to fill jobs... which would be this created!! Bankers hey !! JT stands alone on this goal amongst the rest of the world, whom are weary about uncontrolled immigration, and being counsel to use sense in their forecasting of acceptance-- from both sides ?? But it will certainly guarantee the Liberals' stay in power for a long time. At a conference, JT said when he left Ottawa, Canada would be unrecognizable... he meant it.

Since we support the 'moderate rebels' are you saying we shouldn't take care of 'our veterans' just because they failed at the task we gave them. Perhaps we should have given them something that is better than the Russian equipment.
