Man found hiding in pickup truck at Canada border crossing, agency says

A 58-year-old man from Wisconsin has been charged after allegedly trying to sneak across the Canadian border by hiding in the back of a pickup truck under camping supplies.

The man was found by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers on June 13 as the vehicle tried to enter Manitoba at the Sprague border crossing.

Officials with CBSA allege the man hid under a tent, a cooler and some bags in the rear of a pickup truck.

The driver of the vehicle is still under investigation.

The man who was allegedly hiding is charged with failing to appear for border officers and wilful evasion of compliance.

"This case demonstrates the critical role CBSA officers have in protecting our borders by keeping inadmissible people from entering Canada," said Kim Scoville, regional director of the Prairie region for the border agency.

"I'm very proud of the work completed at the border by our Sprague officers and also the casework so far by our criminal investigations section that will come to fruition in the court of law."

Sprague is the easternmost port of entry in southern Manitoba, located along Highway 12, about 150 kilometres from Winnipeg.

Anyone with information about suspicious cross-border activity is encouraged to call the CBSA Border Watch toll-free line at 1-888-502-9060. All calls are completely confidential.

As punishment he should be forced to spend 3 months living in that godforsaken sh!tstain-on-the-prairie before being sent back from whence he came.
