That's nothing. You want to see Germany. The Hun are banning New Year's fireworks in certain areas of their dreary country so as not to "upset" some of the many Syrian immigrants that are now there. The Boche are scared that the sound of the fireworks may bring back bad memories or cause nightmares to those Syrian immigrants who haven't yet quite got over the sound of shelling.

So, yet again, a Western country is bending over backwards, even to the point of preventing people from having a bit of innocent fun and enjoyment, so as not to upset or offend the Muslims.

But hey, it's the "Politically Correct" thing to do don't 'cha know? God forbid we continue with our traditions at the expense of theirs. Hurt feelin's and all that stuff.

The PC crowd want to exterminate all current traditions so that no one is offended, anywhere, at any time.

The Aussies and Kiwis aren't worried about a few fireworks:

Happy New Year! Sydney Harbour explodes with light as revellers across the globe usher in 2016 in spectacular style

Cities around the world have begun welcoming in 2016 with fireworks displays and huge parties, in countries such as Australia and New Zealand. In Sydney, left, a spectacular display was centred around the world famous Harbour Bridge, which was lit up with colour. While in Melbourne, Mariah Carey, inset, treated revellers to a New Year concert at the city's Crown Palladium. In Auckland, right, the world's first major city to see in 2016, people gathered for a fireworks and laser show from the high rise Sky Tower.

I'm looking forward to watching London's spectacular fireworks at the London Eye tonight, once again transforming it into the world's biggest Catherine wheel.

Yup.....
Merry Christmas has become Merry Xmas or Happy Hollidays
Easter Break in schools has become "Spring Break" held at a different times.....
And most atheist bitching is against Christians...

Is the Brussels government politically correct?

Just asking. My knowledge of Belgian local politics is woefully inadequate.

Merry Xmas is just short form and involves less typing. The X is supposed to be like a cross and represent Christ. That was I was always led to believe at any rate.

This crap makes me so angry. Once you let fear live your life, they win. That's just what they want.

My Dad lives in constant fear over anyone attacking him or his family. While I get that he is a family man, it just makes me sad that fear can consume someone so badly like that.

You can't fear live your life, folks. All you can do is fight right back!

Actually, the "X" is the Greek letter "chi," the first letter in "Christos."

Parchment was expensive and precious in the middle ages, so words were often abbreviated to save space. "Christ" or "Christos" was frequently abbreviated to "chi" or "chi rho" (the intertwined "P" and "x" you sometimes see) by priests and monks.

So people who claim that "Xmas" is a dirty evil commie Kenyan Muslim socialist plot to destroy whatever are really only demonstrating their ignorance of the history and art of their own religion.

Which, ya gotta admit, is pretty funny.

Allow me to present an example:
