$10,000,000+ reno's needed? 34 rooms & just under 11,000sq.ft.?

Knock that thing down! Mow it under and build something new in
the 5 million dollar range...modern....with NEW plumbing & electrical
& windows & insulation & so on & so forth...with a warrenty.

Heritage? Smeritage! Sometimes you just have to draw a line, even
if it's just on a balance sheet, and do the right thing. Good on Harper
or whomever for not dumping more cash into that hole!

Finally ...something smart coming out of that head of yours.....I'm putting a check mark on my calendar ......

You're only saying that because I talk over your head so often. Usually, when I dumb down my comments to your level, you agree with me. I'll try and keep that in mind for future discussions.

That was my thought as well.

Yeah, it's a 143yr old building. I'm assuming that Harper or the previous
tenants where not up on the roof poking holes, or tearing out insulation
from the walls as a form of stress relief or whatever.

Not only would it most likely be cheaper, but potentially faster to just
knock it down and start from scratch using current building codes and
modern construction practices.

I would imagine the old knob and tube wiring and other electrical hazards would make it a prime candidate burn down

Plastic on the Windows, pails to catch water from a leaky roof
take pictures of it, catalog its historic value and tear it down.

so sock man found an old article, thinking it was new, citing even older 2008 reports on the place. places it in the news forum because he missed how old it was in his rush to post (like another of our little friends around here).
