RCMP have issued an Amber Alert for a two-year-old girl they say was abducted from a small town near the Alberta-B.C. border early on Monday morning.
Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, 2, was taken from a residence in Blairmore, Alta., around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to Crowsnest RCMP.
An Amber Alert was issued in Alberta Monday afternoon and later extended to B.C. and Saskatchewan.
Dunbar-Blanchette is described as a white, with a small build, brown eyes and light brown hair with bangs.
Police said an unknown suspect fled west from the scene in a newer white van with a large rear antenna and a flag attached.
Police are warning potential witnesses not to approach the suspect, and to instead call the police.
Neighbour Jennifer Irwin said she regularly saw Hailey playing outside her home or at a park.
Irwin said she is terrified, and that she hasn’t let go of her own two-year-old daughter all day.

Amber Alert issued for 2-year-old girl in Crowsnest Pass

An Amber Alert has been issued by the RCMP in Crowsnest Pass, Alta., in the abduction of a two-year-old girl.

The alert is in place for Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan.

Police say Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette was taken from a home in Blairmore about 3:30 a.m. MT on Monday.

Cpl. Sharon Franks says the RCMP did not receive a call until 11 a.m., which is why the Amber Alert was not issued until later in the day.

The young girl has light brown straight hair with bangs, and brown eyes.

Police said they don't know who took her in a vehicle that fled at a high rate of speed, heading west.

The vehicle is described as a newer model white van with a large rear antenna and a flag attached.

Police are asking people not approach the vehicle and to call Blairmore RCMP at 403-562-2866 with any information.

Crowsnest Pass Mayor Blair Painter said news of the abduction is reverberating through his community.

"Most people know each other. News travels very quickly and especially traumatic news travels quickly," he said. "Our community will be willing to support this family in anyway possible."

3 murders in this town and now the father of this young girl.. and the abduction of this young girl, what a sick fukk.

Catch is guy and string the bastard up to a tree, screw the court hearings.. just string this bastard up.

As for the residence of Crowsnest Pass, buy a gun and Shoot First, ask questions later if somebody comes into your home unwanted.

Settle down there Boom Boom - best to just go about things in a methodical manner. If I was in charge of the case I would check out the Mum. I'm guessing someone abducted the kid on her behalf at her request and of course there may be a motive for offing the Dad. Whoever has the kid is probably keeping the kid until the heat dies down. (Which could be a very long wait) The worst that can happen is drawing fast conclusions.

They've made an arrest, still no sign of the girl. Suspect is a 22 year old male in Blairmore.
