Police searching for large veterans' monument stolen in Calgary



Calgary police are asking the public's for help in their search for a large, bronze veterans' monument that is believed to have been stolen from a funeral home in the city's east end.

The incident occurred sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning at the Veteran Honor Gardens at Mountain View Funeral Home.

Police believe multiple suspects and a vehicle were involved in the alleged heist because of the size and weight of the monument.

The memorial has been the centrepiece of the Veteran Honor Gardens since it was erected in 1990.

Anyone with information about the theft or the location of the statue is being asked to contact Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234, Const. Beierbach at 403-428-6400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
