2015 is the International Year of Light.

It will see:

Lithuania adopt the euro (all EU Member States, with the exception of the UK and Denmark, must join the euro at some point even if they haven't yet done so);

NASA's Dawn spacecraft arrive at the dwarf planet Ceres;

A General Election to elect the 56th Parliament of the United Kingdom;

The launch of the European/American LISA Pathfinder spacecraft, a gravity research probe and technology testbed;

The flyby of Pluto and its moon Charon and an exploration of the region by the NASA New Horizons spacecraft until the distance becomes too great. New Horizons will then enter the Kuiper Belt and eventually leave the Solar System;

Queen Elizabeth II surpassing her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria to become Britain and Canada's longest-reigning monarch ever, assuming she's still on the Throne then;

Twenty nations (England, France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Scotland, Wales, Japan, South Africa, Namibia, Argentina, Canada, Uruguay, United States, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga) competing in the eighth Rugby World Cup, which will be held in England for the first time since 1991. The Final will be held at the 82,000 capacity Twickenham Stadium in London, the world's largest stadium dedicated solely to rugby union.

It seems you hate Australia but keep your chit to yourself you limey idiot.

I've been watching a BBC series on TVO re; the Royals and their German heritage and it's quite amusing.. I can't find that particular series although it may be the one linked below........

GEORGE I (1660-1727)

  • King of Great Britain and Ireland 1714-1727
  • Elector of Hanover and so became the first of the British Hanoverian monarch, a dynasty that continued until the death of Victoria in 1901
  • He spoke hardly any English and showed little liking for the British
  • Admired the British army and believed he could use it to counter his enemies on the continent
  • Concerned with Hanover as much as Britain and died on his way there in 1727

George I married his cousin, divorced her and locked her up in Ahlden Castle for the rest of her life (32 years).

There are larger better coordinated flashier fireworks in English Bay three (3) times every summer-ours make the Ocker versions look sick since we invite different countries to put up their Best.

Your post is disgusting and racist.

Anyway, away from that weird, foul-mouthed, unnecessary rant which was rather uncalled for and back on topic:

London welcomed in 2015 with yet another world-beating fireworks display at the London Eye on the South Bank of the Thames. Thousands of ticket-holders gathered on the opposite bank to watch the display, which lasted around 11 minutes.

The first New Year fireworks display at the London Eye in 2003 attracted 100,000 people but, in the years since then, the numbers attending gave grown, with people all around the world (obviously learning that London's New Year fireworks display is the best in the world) attending. Last year, 500,000 people gathered to watch the fireworks, but this year numbers were kept to 100,000 with non-ticket holders being kept away.

The show had a tribute to the Tower of London poppy display. Red fireworks, representing poppies were, at one stage, set off.

And, as usual with the London New Year fireworks on the London Eye, the last two or three minutes built up to a blazing crescendo which looked as if it was going to blow the London Eye into the Thames.
