Second Alberta crash in a month kills 3 foreign workers from Philippines

RED DEER, Alta. -- A highway crash in Alberta has claimed the lives of more foreign workers from the Philippines.

RCMP say one woman and two men died when the Ford Mustang they were in lost control on Highway 11 between Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House on Saturday and collided with a five-ton truck heading the other way.

The driver survived but remains in critical condition.

Police say all four people in the car were Filipinos, and were on their way back to Rocky Mountain House after attending language training in Red Deer.

Last month, four temporary foreign workers from the Philippines died when their vehicle hit a patch of ice and collided with a semi south of Edmonton.

Investigators say they believe driver inexperience may have been a factor in the most recent incident.
They say the Mustang entered the ditch and then overcorrected before hitting the truck.

Police say they are working with the employers of the dead workers to contact their families overseas.

They should include reading classes for things like 'passing lane 5km' they they can pass and not have to rely on the name mustang to pass with the 'speed of light'. The horizon in this pic has a wider road so it is an extra lane for those going up hill. There is a gas station just before this pic so slower traffic might have entered the highway there.
