EAST ST. LOUIS • Police are seeking a "person of interest" after a body was found Monday in the trunk of a car that was on fire in East St. Louis.

Authorities said they are trying to locate a Missouri man, Hairl T. Johnson, 43, and asked for the public's help in finding him, but did not describe Johnson as a suspect.

The St. Clair County coroner's office said Thursday morning that the victim was Antonio Jones, 43, of Ferguson. The coroner said the fire didn't kill Jones; he died after being shot twice in the abdomen.

The Major Case Squad is investigating the death. Police say the car, a Buick, had Missouri registration and multiple owners in Missouri.
East St. Louis police said a burning vehicle was reported about 3 p.m. Monday on railroad tracks near 18th Street and Broadway. After firefighters put out the fire, they found the body in the trunk of the car.

Authorities asked anyone with information in the case or about Johnson's location to call the Major Case Squad at 618-274-5434.

Proof or no proof, impartiality and facts will not sway those with their mind made up.

“The prosecutors appear to be giving the grand jury the ability to decide for themselves,” said Ric Simmons, a former prosecutor and professor of criminal law at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University. They may hope that the decision will have more credibility with an already inflamed public because, he said, “it will be based on the community’s voice, not the prosecutor’s decision.”
“I think it’s a good thing,” Mr. Simmons added. “It’s the original reason why we want to have grand juries.”
But Mr. Brown’s family and their supporters have expressed deep suspicion about the drawn-out proceedings, arguing that Officer Wilson should have been indicted months ago.
“It seems to me that there is a secret trial that’s taking place,” Anthony D. Gray, a lawyer for the Brown family, said in an interview. “This notion that all of the evidence needs to be presented in order to determine probable cause is faulty, in my opinion.”

All those folks need do is to organize themselves into a militia, arm themselves as per the 2d Amendment, go to the nearest precinct, and take the law into their own hands. After all, the 2d Amendment applies to them every bit as much as it does to everyone else and every conservative on this forum is only too eager to restrict government intrusionism at any cost. If right wingers can do that to the feds in Nevada with the blessings of the right wingers on this forum and elsewhere, then the people of Ferguson should get the same blessings from anti-government types here.

Let's have everyone post their ardent approval.

That's the dumbest thing posted in the last 24hrs.

Why would any sane and intelligent person endorse that stupidity?

The evidence is mounting against Brown, not the officer.

You can say that again.

Why bother having an inquiry or trial?

Brown's family will not accept anything other than a murder charge and the wholesale condemnation of the police as racially motivated murderers.

All this in the face of the information that paints Brown in a negative light... Snookums would never do that, he was gentle.. And an honour student... Read to the blind and sang songs at the Senior's Center when he wasn't saving kittens stuck in trees.

Bullshtt. Let the people, not the appointed grand juries make that determination. The 2d Amendment applies to everyone and it's time for those people to take full advantage of the law. Then let some POS know nothing try to get in their way.

It worked just fine in Nevada against the feds, it can work just as well in Ferguson.

It defies logic that people can't see this train-wreck coming
It defies sanity that anyone would suggest, in the face of the facts that have come to light, armed revolt against the law enforcement agencies in Ferguson.

But here we are.
