Woman accused in 'Breaking Bad'-style poison plot jailed 3 years

A British woman who was accused of attempting to poison her mother in a plot inspired by Breaking Bad has been jailed for three years for possession of a deadly toxin.
Kuntal Patel, 37, from east London, was cleared of attempted murder over allegations she plotted to kill her mum Meena Patel with a plan inspired by the hit U.S. TV show.
However, she was convicted on a charge of attempting to acquire a biological agent for setting up an online purchase of a vial of deadly abrin, a poison closely related to ricin.
Patel has now been jailed for three years following a sentencing hearing at London's Southwark Crown Court on Friday.
She was accused of botching a plan to slip the poison to her mother in a can of soda, and prosecutors claimed she had taken inspiration from a storyline featured in Bryan Cranston's TV show in which his character Walter White, a chemistry-teacher-turned-drug baron, brewed up ricin to poison a rival.
