LONDON - British police confronted a man trying to eat the eyeball and face of a woman and used a stun gun on the cannibal who later died, local media quoted witnesses as saying.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation has been opened.
Police said they were called to an incident at a hostel in the village of Argoed in South Wales on Thursday after reports of a man attacking a woman.
Security staff at the Sirhowy Arms discovered the 34-year-old man, who had been released from prison two weeks ago, eating the woman, a 22-year-old believed to be his girlfriend, according to witnesses quoted by the South Wales Evening Post.
The victim has been identified as Cerys Marie Yemm.
Police shot the man with a Taser stun gun. He became unresponsive and died, despite attempts by paramedics to save him, police said.
Many details of the incident were not immediately clear.
"This animal was eating this girl to death," the South Wales Evening Post quoted Jill Edwards, who lives near the hostel, as saying.
The attack drew comparisons with Hannibal Lecter, a fictional murderer who ate his victims.
"He went Hannibal Lecter on the woman, he gouged her eyeball out, ate them and ate half her face," the South Wales Evening Post quoted Lyn Beasley as saying.
A spokesman for Welsh police declined to supply further details of the attack, citing the murder investigation.
Argoed, a former coal-mining village, is about 260 km west of London.

8O............good taser.........good. !

Was watching "The Borgias" earlier, where they hung up these two dudes by the ankles (yep, showed their balls and all), and sawed them in two with a big ol' crosscut saw." Don't know why this idiot being tasered to death made me think of the TV drama, but it did.

Guess that would be a sort of 16th century taser..............well, the dudes died. eh.

A C16 punishment which would not go amiss here in the 21st........sometimes.......just sayin.8O

Clifford Olson, Picton, Paula and her hubby as recipients, come to mind.

I'm glad that this sick **** died. Eating someone is one of the worst things imaginable. I hope that the poor woman was at least already dead when he started eating her.

Eating someone is one of the worst things imaginable.

It depends on the circumstances.

TASER GUN USE IS ON THE RISE

Police are blasting five people a day with 50,000-volt Taser guns as use of the controversial weapons has soared.

The stun-guns - which deliver a powerful electric shock to incapacitate the target - were drawn, aimed or fired a record number of times in the last year, figures revealed last month.

Home Office data showed Tasers were used 10,488 times in the 12 months to the end of June - a 13 per cent increase compared with the 9,289 on the previous year. Over that period, police zapped 1,693 people with Tasers - equivalent to shooting five people a day.

Senior officers insist Tasers are used as a weapon of last resort, when there is such a severe threat of violence that force is needed to protect the public, police or a culprit.

But critics have accused the police of using them as a 'compliance tool' – and claim this is proved by the relentless rise in their use.

Concern is mounting that 11 people have died after being Tasered since the controversial guns were introduced a decade ago.

Ice cream factory worker Jordan Begley, 23, from Gorton, Manchester, had a suspected heart attack after being hit with the stun gun outside his terraced house after a disturbance with his neighbours in July last year.
