and yes, it's almost turning into all about the victim, his mom and that the crowd is upset again...the punk fired at the cop...now he's dead...too bad so sad.

ST. LOUIS • An off-duty city officer fatally shot a man who opened fire on him Wednesday night, police said.Police said the uniformed officer was working a secondary job for a private security company when he encountered four pedestrians in the Shaw neighborhood and stopped to talk with them at about 7:30 p.m.

The four fled and the officer chased one, a man believed to be in his 20s, Assistant Chief Alfred Atkins said.

The man the officer was chasing jumped from some bushes and struggled with the officer, Atkins said. The man then pulled a gun and fired at the officer, Atkins said. The officer returned fire and fatally shot the man.

The officer was not injured and a gun was recovered from the scene, police said.

The officer, 32, is a six-year veteran of the police department, Atkins said.

The scene is just east of the Missouri Botanical Garden.

A crowd of dozens of people — including several who said they were relatives of the man who was shot — gathered at the scene.

Some shouted at police, and some were in tears.

They said other family members who witnessed the shooting told them their relative was unarmed.

Teyonna Myers, 23, of Florissant, said the victim was her cousin, Vonderrick Myers, 18. He had a new job at a factory in Bridgeton.
“He was unarmed,” Teyonna Myers said. “He had a sandwich in his hand, and they thought it was a gun. It’s like Michael Brown all over again.”

Some of the relatives said Myers had been hit with a Taser before he was shot.

Several neighbors also gathered at the scene. Some said they were surprised by the shooting.

“This is not normal,” Dorenda Townsend, 42, who lives in the Shaw neighborhood. “I’ve lived here over 20 years.”

Some also expressed concern that the shooting involved police.

“I pray this is not another Mike Brown situation,” said Sharon Norman, 50, referring to a shooting in August in Ferguson in which a police officer fatally shot a teenager, which has prompted many protests.

If the guy deserves it, it serves him right. Most cops have enough to contend with without having to be put at risk by some punk!

Here we go again, the Nig Nogs are shocked at the fact, if you shoot at a cop, you may end up in dead yourself.

Fukking ignorant group, protesting. Guess they would be too busy working to protest if they had a President that cared enough to bring jobs to those communities..

Black President failed black America.

Some community organizer Obama turned out to be...

Teen died from gunshot to right cheek, medical examiner says

UPDATED at 8:12 p.m. Thursday with remarks from officer's attorney

ST. LOUIS • The attorney for a police officer involved in a fatal shooting Wednesday night told the Post-Dispatch that his client is lucky to be alive because he hesitated too long before firing at an 18-year-old who pointed a gun at him.

"He's fortunate the guy missed him," said Brian Millikan, adding that his client, though highly trained, may have been influenced by the current atmosphere surrounding the use of force by police.

Millikan said that the officer served with the U.S. Marines in Iraq and is "shaken up." Millikan said he and his client welcome any outside investigators.

"We welcome any fact finder...Who is looking at it through a factual lens, not a political lens," he said.
He called claims that Myers was carrying a sandwich, not a gun, "ridiculous."

"This policeman did everything by the book with the possible exception of waiting too long," he said. "We're just fortunate it didn't cost him his life."

Given the circumstances I dont see anything wrong with what the cop did.

These riots and demonstrations have nothing to do with whether police actions were appropriate or justified in the shooting of a black man. This civil unrest is rooted in the perception by American blacks, particularly lower middle class ones, that they are racially persecuted by the civil judiciary and other authorities, societal victims of white privilege and that a significantly sized African American community is predominately governed, policed and otherwise run by Caucasians

While I doubt we'll see anytime soon counter protests in the streets by white Americans against the overwhelming amount of violence and crime originating within the black community, it was interesting to see them protesting the increasing militarization of municipal police forces which I can appreciate as I remember protesting in Clayqueot Sound not over logging, but rather because some Victoria judge made it illegal to protest.

I do believe American blacks should be looking more inward as the source of their problems rather than external factors. The term African American is already exclusionary. Rap music is racially self deprecating and perpetuates the stereotype. The majority of black males are chastised for making more poor fathers and husbands and well educated black women consider the lack of quality black men an existential crisis as they begin dating outside the race in droves. Blacks make up a disproportionately large number of the violent and drug related crimes and the percentage of white flight in any community is now a barometer for the failure of black self government.

Anywho, I wouldn't want to be a police officer in Missouri these days.
