John Leonard MacKean sentenced to 2 years in chained-teen case

A man convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage boy who was chained for days in a remote cabin in Nova Scotia has been sentenced in Bridgewater Supreme Court to 24 months in prison.

Justice Richard Coughlan accepted the Crown's sentencing recommendation of 24 months plus probation of three years for John Leonard MacKean, 65.

MacKean, of Lower Sackville, was found guilty in March of sexual assault and communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services from a person under 18.

As Coughlan read the sentence, MacKean sat with his hands folded in front of his face. MacKean's daughter sobbed as her father was led away in handcuffs.

This is beyond my understanding. Catering to pedophiles with little or no sentences, sheltered prison time away from the general population, Psychiatric counseling that pedophiles have admitted does nothing and is only something the pedophiles use to get early release.

Everything we do in the system promotes the pedophile to go for it. The days where a pedophile knew he would be abused in the general population , caused them to think before acting out on these impulses. The threat of violence done to the pedophile in prison is the reason for the segregation we have today.

where is the justice, this child is ruined for life. You can't fix these kids after the abuse has been done.

That's interesting. Are there stats about that? Conviction rates when the victim is male vs female? Would it even be possible to pull such stats...

Nope, the Headpiece won't let people do the long form any more.

But; yes. Imagine the cops have stats on who did what, when, to whom. Arrest reports and the like. Whether they keep track of them is unknown to me.
Probably on a computer.

Well one thing is for sure. Whether you are a child or an adult when a crime is done to you the perp gets less time for doing it to a kid, male or female.

Then whether your wealthy or poor kicks in as well in lawsuits.

We are not equal in the eyes of the law.

There's no justifiable reason this piece of filth should ever see the light of day again. We already know what he does with his freedom, so it's too big of a risk.

2 years....that's absolutely disgusting.
