Why are we still training teachers?

632 Coquitlam teachers getting layoff notices - British Columbia - CBC News

With such a large surplus in one area alone is there really a necessity to be training more of them? You'd think there'd be enough extras in the one area to fill all the shortfalls right across the province. There also appears to be gross incompetence among those responsible for the firings and hirings. The entire education system appears to need an overhaul.

Teachers are like classroom space for a time we have too many and
when we stop introducing the courses we have a shortage of classrooms
meaning all of a sudden we have more children to teach
Then we end up with a shortage like a nursing shortage.
We stopped the trades training and now we have to import workers.
Never ending cycle

As damngrumpy says, it is a cycle. We used to have a shortage of teachers, so lots of people were encouraged to get trained. Now we are getting to the other end of the spectrum.

People have to choose for themselves if they think it is a good idea to enter the field.

What really baffles me is why is there such an over abundance of people in a profession they claim is so underpaid?

Who is "they"? Some ghost leftards that Wally the Red likes to talk about?

Teachers are paid well.
Even to teach public school now, a degree is required. When they get the golden fleece, the money gets good.
