An Italian man is facing jail time after being accused of adopting at least 15 black cats for the purpose of cooking and eating them.
The man, identified as Francesco F, spent roughly two years travelling around northern Italy adopting black cats from various animal shelters,Lorenzo Croce, president of the Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment told Italian media outlets.
Croce said suspicions arose when reports surfaced that Francesco always asked to adopt cats that were three years old, with black fur and "a bit of flesh on it."
"After several reports from different catteries we began to suspect that he was involved in some sort of Satanist group," Croce told Italian newspaper La Stampa.
Francesco was arrested and charged with animal abuse after a volunteer caught him red-handed preparing to kill a cat for dinner.
Reports say Francesco was confused of his arrest, asking if killing and eating cats was illegal.
If convicted he faces up to a year in jail.

And there are less parasite prone cute and fuzzy animals with fewer razor blades on their paws, that breed faster and build meat quicker. This is just ten kinds of impractical.

Funny how something that is normal food in much of the world is illegal to eat in others.

I doubt they'll get him on the legality of eating cat, they'll get him for breech of contract with the shelters.

Animal shelters all have you sign a contract basically stating that the pet is never yours, you are simply allowed to raise it, love it, and treat it like part of your family. But should you ever be less than a wonderful pet owner, they are allowed, technically and by law, to take that animal back. So, they'll get him on destruction of property, and possibly inhumane butchery.
