A 26-year-old Canadian man is missing after he jumped overboard from a cruise ship on its way to Puerto Rico Saturday night.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Tien Phuoc Nguyen, a Canadian citizen, was travelling with his family on the Royal Caribbean cruise when other passengers saw him jump overboard. The ship was 15 nautical miles east of Mona Island, Puerto Rico's third largest island, at the time.
The cruise line's spokeswoman told The Associated Press the captain stopped the ship and immediately turned around, alerting local authorities.
The Coast Guard said the FBI is investigating why Nguyen jumped overboard.

Happens all the time-much more often that cruise lines want people to believe.

Here in BC the cruise business is huge and I've done coastal journeys transfixed by the soap operas on VHF Channel 16.

A man who police suspect may have fallen off a cruise ship near Grand Cayman Island is the second Canadian who remains missing from a luxury liner in four days.
The unidentified man, 65, was reported missing by his wife early Tuesday, about six hours after they went to bed, cayCompas.com reports.
"She searched for him and when she did not find him she made the report of her husband missing at about 7:25 a.m.," police said in a statement. "At that time the ship was headed into George Town Port."
The couple were on a six-day cruise aboard the Independence of the Seas, which was about 20 kilometres from shore and heading towards George Town Harbour at the time it was discovered the man was missing.
Once docked, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship was searched and closed-circuit television footage viewed but there was no sign of the man, whose hometown was not disclosed.
On New Year's Eve the local port authority appealed to all marine traffic to be on the lookout for the missing Canadian but without success.
The search continued Wednesday with the help of the local marine unit.
It marked the second time in four days a Canadian had gone missing from a cruise ship.
On Saturday night, Canadian citizen Tien Phuoc Nguyen, 26, jumped overboard from a cruise ship on its way to Puerto Rico.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Nguyen was travelling with his family on another Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the Adventures of the Seas, when other passengers saw him jump.
The ship was 15 nautical miles east of Mona Island, Puerto Rico's third largest island, at the time.
The cruise line's spokesman Cynthia Martinez said in a release the captain immediately turned the ship around and alerted local authorities.
Closed-circuit camera footage shows Nguyen going overboard.
Early Sunday, the ship was told it could continue on to San Juan, where the seven-night cruise ended.
The Coast Guard said the FBI it is investigating why Nguyen, whose body has not been found, jumped overboard.
The seacrh for Nguyen was called off Monday.
