Good God, can we not just fire him out of the Senate?

To remove a sitting Senator is not an easy process. If he was convicted, they can, but he would still be entitled to his pension, only if he resigned before the Senate motion to toss him passes.

Time for some real change.

I agree. Recall a few years ago some Liberal MP's (around 2009) were caught- They all looked after them.
They are mostly all crooked when it comes to protecting their entitlements. And that crosses Party lines.
And till now Harper will not do it.

Aside from getting rid of the Senate, we have to follow the original rules
and appoint honest people for the right reasons that would take care of
the problem. As it is Prime Ministers have appointed specific private
interests for specific reasons. Harper is the guy who appointed the latest
disasters for the most part.

This isn't America. A pension is something people pay into. Its a privately owned asset. We don't take them away any more than we take away their houses.

Better still we should get rid of the senate. Unfortunately Parliament cannot do it unilaterally.

This is the trouble that permeates all levels of Canadian politics. Whether it be elected or appointed officials, employees or contractors, the government job has become synonymous with "easy money", and the people of honour and integrity that we need to change this status quo don't want to have anything to do with the cesspool that is Canadian politics. Did you know that the word "politics" is derived from the latin "poly", meaning "many", and "tic", a blood-sucking parasite ?

If no tangible work was done then there can be no tangible damage to the Canadian way of life. That is close to zero, it's a nothing story already. You don't know how science works.

A dishonest politician, so what, they,re as common as dead leaves. They don't decompose as usefully though.

I don't even know if there is an impeachment process with Senators. They seem to be there for life.. or at least retirement at age 75.. no matter how corrupt, incompetent, or lazy they are. The whole Senate has become a joke.. not a sober second look.. but happy hour at the public trough.
