Rev. Randall Cox was one of two men charged early last week in connection with an opium shipment that arrived at a local business from overseas. He is the Senior Pastor at the Legacy Life Centre, also known as the New Hope Fellowship Dream Centre in Burk’s Falls.
On Aug. 13, the Sudbury Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed a search warrant at an Ontario Street business in the Village of Burk’s Falls – the former site of Bishop’s Phamarcy.
The search, executed with the assistance of the Almaguin Highlands OPP, lead to the arrest of 64-year-old Wayne Cassidy and 53-year-old Randall Cox, both of Huntsville.
The warrant was obtained after German customs officials at the Frankfurt Airport intercepted a parcel containing a controlled substance on Aug. 3. It was addressed to Legacy Investment Group in Burk’s Falls. The parcel, which originated from India, was examined and found to contain about 10 kilograms of opium with an estimated street value of about $300,000.
