Paul McCartney asks Regina crew to eat vegan this week

REGINA – It’s a busy week for Evraz Place staff. They’ve spent five days already setting up for Wednesday’s Paul McCartney concert, and the bulk of the work is still to come.

The stage itself has taken crews 30 hours to erect. The on-stage equipment arrives overnight Monday after McCartney wraps his show in Winnipeg.

The crew is doing it all on a special diet. McCartney is a strict vegan, so he requests anyone working on his production doesn’t eat any animal products for the week.

The Evraz Place kitchen is accommodating. Every crew member has been a vegan this week.

“Obviously there’s a few jokes flying around about ordering pizza, that kind of thing,” said Evraz Place Vice President, Neil Donnelly. “But for the most part, they’ve been fairly happy with the meals that have been provided.”

40, 000 tickets have been sold for this show. It’ll be one of the largest crowds to ever gather in Regina.

The tickets aren’t sold out, and there’s a number of tickets being sold on secondary websites such as Kijiji or StubHub.

Donnelly says buyers are not protected when they go through those sites though, and only recommends using TicketMaster.

“If they are buying on a secondary website, they should be concerned,” he said. “It’s buyer beware. I would only through a reputable site.”

The work for Evraz Place staff isn’t going to slow down this week either. They have a tight turnaround to get the field ready for the Rider’s home game on Saturday.

“That’s probably the biggest and tightest turnaround’s we’ve ever had for a show,” said Donnelly.

McCartney does that vegan request at every concert. But it doesn't make his music listenable to me........
