Man’s ear bitten off on Capitol Hill

A Capitol Hill man’s ear was bitten off Thursday night during a confrontation with a man who was urinating in the victim’s yard.

Just before 10 p.m., the 23-year-old reportedly told a man who was peeing to leave in his fenced yard in the 100 block of 10th Avenue East, according to Seattle police reports.

The girlfriend of the urinating man also told him they should leave. He then started to assault his girlfriend.

The resident pushed the man and tried to stop him, which initiated a fight between the two men. The intruder attacked the resident and bit off “a large portion” of the victim’s left ear, reports say.

Responding police found the 21-year-old assailant, mouth covered in blood, in Cal Anderson Park. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.

The 23-year-old victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

When officers asked the 21-year-old whether he swallowed the victim’s ear, he only smiled.

A search for the victim’s ear turned up “negative,” according to Seattle police.
