Nope never. When Christian churches are desecrated it's never a hate crime, only "vandalism"



A shrine that stood in Whitney Pier, N.S. for fewer than five days has been burned to the ground.

The shrine was built as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations for St. Mary's Polish Church and was modelled after similar shrines in Poland and the Ukraine.

The wooden structure was inscribed in both Polish and Ukranian with the phrase "Peace be with you." It was blessed and dedicated on Sunday.

People found its burned remains on Thursday.

Actually this does sound more like vandals than a hate crime. All too often we associate
acts with hate crimes when they are not. had this been someone out to hate Polish folks
and they burned down the shrine that would be a hate crime. In this case it sounds to me
like a bunch of mean spirited little buggers with nothing better to do.
Good reason for saying that, even if somebody didn't like it, it contained a statue of the
Mary and that would not be good tidings to torch it as the folks on Cape Breton are primarily
Catholic by heritage.
This does sound like vandals with nothing better to do than ruin life for everyone else. Besides
to plan a hate crime it would take a certain amount of knowledge something these people who
did this have none. A brainless act

I love the idea of it being Muslim Terrorists, can you imagine the reception
those folks would get pulling something on Cape Breton Island? Now
having been born there and knowing a bit about the area I would pay money
to see what they would do to a few terrorists There would be real A** kicking
that day

Edit: I just checked....It's someone that likes to throw around the epithet Bigot or Racist at anyone that doesn't agree with her.....
