WEST PENN TWP., Pa. - A freak accident in Schuylkill County nearly cost a man his life Thursday. The man was driving his minivan south on Route 309 in West Penn Township when a utility pole at Route 443 snapped, causing part of the pole to fall through the windshield, police said.
