Stephen Harper seems to think he's a CF pilot.

Jeff Rose-Martland: Stephen Harper's Military Jacket Is Irritating and Offensive

In contravention of Canadian law and showing disrespect for serving members of the force he often wears a flight suit with pilot insignia.

In Canada, it is illegal to wear a Forces uniform or marks or decorations related to service if you did not earn them. It is a summary offence, punishable by a $5,000 fine or six months in prison. Similar summary offences include joyriding, soliciting a prostitute, possession of marijuana, and causing a disturbance. S. 419, as with many summary offences, does not allow excuses as defense -- if you violated the law, you are guilty, and it doesn't matter why you did it. So the bottom line for the bereaved? Pin on those medals in tribute on Remembrance Day and you could get six months.

Yet Stephen Harper is seen in many photos and videos wearing Canadian Forces pilot's wings, on a Canadian Forces jacket, having never served in the Forces.

Harper may think he's the commander in chief of our armed forces the way the America President is of all US armed forces, but in Canada the Governor General has that distinction.

Parliamentary supremacy.

Then all MPs should have the right to run around pretending they're serving members of the forces, not just one man.

Harper clearly doesn't know or give a damn about anything but looking Presidential, too bad this is Canada and not the US.

Lay an information before a JP or Magistrate.
Come on now- all it takes is a tad of time.
Criminal Procedure - The Canadian Encyclopedia

Criminal procedure commences long before an accused person appears in court, as detailed laws cover how police may investigate a crime (see CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION). For example, there are many procedural rules in the CRIMINAL CODE or in the COMMON LAW that define how and when police may interrogate witnesses or suspects, search persons and places, arrest suspects, seize evidence, and use telephone wiretaps. Criminal procedure then sets out the rules as to how a charge is laid, when accused persons will obtain bail, and in what court they will eventually have their trial. The actual court process is set in motion by the swearing of an Information (popularly known as a charge) before a justice of the peace or MAGISTRATE (provincial court judge). An Information is an allegation by a citizen (usually a police officer) that reasonable and probable grounds exist to believe another person (the accused) has committed a crime.

And how does that change the law?

If this was the first time Harper had stepped over the line it wouldn't be as much of an issue, but he's made his political career by flaunting the rules and traditions.

He certainly didn't seem to see it as a gift as much as a photo op.

Not a problem. Now go and do it.

I would pay big money to be there in person to watch CK affect a citizens arrest on Harper... Slap his left hand on Stevie's shoulder, boldly announce that he's placing the PM in his custody and working feverishly to slap the bracelets onto his prisoner.

Yep I'd pay big money alright - even a premium price if there's a lawn chair and cooler of beer with a front-row, unobstructed view
