Canada closes Cairo embassy for security reasons

CAIRO—The Canadian Embassy in Cairo is closed until further notice because of security concerns.

Foreign Affairs made the announcement on Twitter this morning and posted a one-line notice on the embassy website.

Cairo has seen throngs of protesters in recent days demanding the ouster of embattled Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.

The country's military is demanding that Morsi meet the demands of the mass protest, with a 48-hour deadline for him to act.

The embassy is urging visitors to Egypt to exercise a high degree of caution due to what it calls the unpredictable security situation and continued demonstrations.

It advises against travel to the Sinai Peninsula, with the exception of coastal resorts such as Sharm El Sheikh, and also warns against going to Port Said, Suez and Ismailia due to civil unrest.

The west should not intervene in anymore struggles we have done enough damage.
No matter how ugly a situation is a civil war needs to playout with all its bloodshed
and contradictions. Short circuit the process and there is decades of stalemate.
Besides how would the USA have liked it had Britain and France interfered in the
Civil War.
I think the people could hand Morsi his own head on a platter if we let things be.
Besides the Army will side with the populace in the end. And yes there aer Christians
jews and others in Egypt. The people are too modern to go back to the fifteenth
century. And yes I also heard a rumour that there is a Muslim who is not violent or a

Regardless Egypt is an economic basket case. The subsidies are bankrupting them. Same with inefficient farms. Subsidized to keep more unemployed from migrating to cities that have no jobs.
