Razor thin but a win. The governing Socialists held on electing the Vice President
and continuing the policies of Chavez. A percentage point separate the two but
over 99% of the ballots are counted.
The difference? The poor got out to vote and headed off the former ruling class.
by the time the VP is around for awhile he will grow on the people the hope it.
From the other aspect. people were calling Chavez a dictator, this proves people
voted and the poor and lower classes voted and the turn out demonstrates there
is change cemented in the land.
America is also coming to grips with the poor and lower classes opting into the
voting tradition.

Is it because they are Indians that it's disappointing? US wanted another whitie for a leader instead of a Native?

Running a nation is supposed to include all the people and the right wing governments
in the South never took that to mind. In fact the poorest of the poor didn't have a vote
until Chavez now they want to protect it.
Nothing like a good measure of economic nationalism the resources for the people first
Kennedy said years ago If we cannot help the many who are poor we cannot save the few
who are rich and that is now coming true. I think we will see more of this in many parts of
the world.

What did Kennedy nationalize?
The countries that have tried this crap are returning to private property rights because they realize that socialism doesn't work (read Eastern Bloc et al).

Poor people are collateral for Govt loans just the same as rich people.

Not true for the rich who shelter their wealth overseas as they do not pay taxes which advance the interests of society. All too often, however, what you wrote is true for the poor who do pay their share and more. In my book every person is born for a purpose. While the Romney's of this world will stay say the 47% of of no value, everybody should be appreciated for their contributions to the betterment of humanity. Every cog in the wheel counts whether he likes it or not.

grumpy,

Razor thin but a win.

Still the margin of victory was greater than Bush's in 2000.
