Not necessarily. Unless you know for sure that you can help you are very liable to be just another victim and thereby doubling the work of rescuers. Hero to zero can be a very short trip.

The comments in italics reminds me of a Season 4 episode of Frasier entitled 'The Good Samaritan'. No matter what he does to help people in that episode, it keeps getting twisted and thrown back in his face for NO good reason.
