I'll have to check the video when I have the time.... as well as audio. It's been in the news/radio here since I woke up.
And here I was thinking he'd burn up into a hunk of beef jerky the size of a baby's pinky toe, or crater into the ground, sending a shock wave that would flatten nearby trees
Good for him for not dying.
While it could have been done in a studio, I imagine anybody with a good lense, telescope or just watching from the ground could see it happen... It was in the sky, not on another planet or moon.
Because it can be done. Why does someone climb a mountain?
There was talk that it might not have even been possible with the theory that his blood would have vaporized or some crazy crap.... He's the first to break the sound barier without anything but a suit and plain old fashion gravity.
It can open the door to all sorts of new things in the future.

I'd want a Titanium Arse Plate on my suit, so I could then aim for the ocean and make the biggest cannonball..... wiping out all coastal villages, towns and cities from the tidal wave I'd create.
Of course if I was part of a crew, we'd all work together and cannonball different spots on the planet.
