From '****walk' Toronto...."When anyone says that 'dressing like a *****' makes someone liable to be raped, they're blaming existing survivors for their own victimization."

I'm sorry, but, saying that women should avoid taking drinks from strangers places the blame on women who did and suffered for it. saying women should stay off dark streets after midnight, places the blame on any woman who was a victim because of it. Telling women to buddy up. Telling women to take self defense. Telling women ANY opinion of how to avoid being a victim, implies that someone who suffered a rape without having taken all the precautions, is somewhat to blame. Why do they get so hung up the 'dressing ****ty' issue? Telling people to live like potential victims is the same ****, different pile, no matter what aspect of the issue you're addressing. Attempting to dictate the dialogue to your particular slant is pointless and takes away from the issue at hand.

Either give women input on what is 'safe' behaviour, or abolish all attempt at the dialogue. But don't nit pick.

I don't think dressing like a ho,would the liable to be raped, but a little decency is kinda required,do not copy the hollywood celebs who want to show as much skin as they can.

And do not follow any fashion trends.

A little decency is kinda required... why?

And why should I not follow fashion trends? That's pretty much impossible, and frankly, right now the trend in jeans is working so in my favour I'd be an idiot not to put on those jeans that make my curves pop in all the right places. And how does that pertain to rape anyway?

No means no. Clothing or how people judge someone based on their clothing is beside the point.

Decency does not mean dress like a prudish person, don't have to hide under so much fabric, but do not come whinning if a guy say "How much"

;-)

Whose definition of 'decency'? Because you know that's a very subjective term right? Means different things to different people.

I'm not finding your comments amusing despite the winky face.

You're takling about people saying that dress matters when it comes to rape, and saying that 'decency is kinda required'. So, explain. What's 'decent', why is it required? If I go out in my skullduggery corset over a black blouse, with a pair of hot jeans on, am I 'decent'? I doubt my mother-in-law would think so. But I'm covered.

I would think that a woman should be able to walk around naked, and men wouldn't suddenly have an overwhelming urge to rape them.

I do think it's funny for some vacuum head to be advising women not to dress like *****s, when she participates in lingerie football.

Seriously, does she not understand the point of lingerie football?

We saw that some wear dresses that are design for porn movies, and remember the trashy look of having the g-string popping out of the skirt/pants of teen girls and adult women, also the crapper look of having your pants so lown your boxers are showing 3/4 of the way up.

don't dress like crapper or trailer trash.

It does not mean that i say you got to go to the other extreme of constipated fashion.

Lingerie football or beach volleyball, they wear what the sports "apparently" requires, its on the streets i see that she means, but some who pointed the suits from the game are IDIOTS

Does she dress like that when she doesn't have security personnel on hand?

I figure if you're going to tell anyone how they need to dress, you should be able to explain a bit more thoroughly what you find acceptable, not just what extremes not to go to.

Why should I not follow fashion trends, and what is 'decent'?

Again another thing where i am apparently wrong.

would be useless to point for example a certain Britney Smears.

You're not wrong, you're babbling without SAYING anything. You can't be wrong when you're being hollow.

'Don't follow fashion trends'

'Dress decent'

These are hollow statements you're not bothering to back up with specifics, just ilke 'don't dress like a *****', 'be safe', 'learn self defense', 'stay with friends'. They're hollow statements people make to women that are supposedly going to keep us 'good', keep us 'safe'. But everyone has different impressions of what they mean, and how they'll help us. How will a self defense course help me against a 300lb man with a lead pipe? How will being around 'my friends' help if my rapist is actually my boyfriend? How will how I dress help?

You Can't Wear This On An Airplane

As you see in the link,is to illustrate my point, and from the pics i saw when the event was reported,i saw that the airlines are going to the extreme,i saw nothing indecent there,a little cleavage like that, only excite the prude hypocrites, for my indecent is when one wear the v cut so low it goes down to the v*****,or a skirt that looks more like a belt.

but a little decency is kinda required,

No its not. If they want to dress that way it is their right. We are free to dress however we want. Dressing a certain way does not give other people license to rape or harass them.

Same goes for that original tweet. These women broke no laws. The men who attacked them did. The fault for sex crimes is the attacker and the attacker alone. There is absolutely no excuse for any sex crime.

Apparently there is,in the eyes of the lawyers who defend the creeps.

here is an interesting analogy.

if a person knew that there was a possibility of coming across a bull, would that person wear red, knowing that there was an increased probability of being mowed down by a bull? it doesn't mean that person deserved to be mowed down by a bull if the person chose to wear red.
