Yesterday: British judge lets pedophile go on holiday to a kiddie resort as long as he behaves. Today: British judge lets pensioner-bashing thug off on a suspended sentence because he was 'terrified of jail'. Tomorrow: ????

A teenage burglar who battered a 78-year-old man with a five-foot fence post was spared jail because his lawyer claimed he was terrified of prison - and then bragged about his sentence on Facebook only hours later.

Luke Mansell, 18, of Telford, Shropshire, boasted about being able to remove his tag and take illegal drugs after he was given only a suspended sentence by magistrates.

He walked free after claiming he had been acting in self-defence when he beat pensioner Arthur Ball, who had tried to stop him burgling a neighbour's home.

Most criminals are afraid of jail its bad business and takes them out of circulation.
I am afraid of jail so please don't send me there, Does this not remind you of the
story of Brer Rabbit and the Brier patch.

Is there a finite amount of space in the human brain for sense? The reason I ask is, judges are former lawyers and lawyers need to go to school for a long time. Maybe acquiring all that legal sense just pushes their common sense out the window? I think this speaks to reducing the time required to be spent in law school. So we don't end up with judges who are complete and utter morons!

Well it isn't called the criminal justice system for nothing is it? If we had wanted something to protect the public against criminals we probably should have called it the victims justice system. Just saying.
