What will we believers do?
Don't worry about it, you know how governments lie and cover things up--911, Area 51, MJ 12, the Bilderberg Group, the Philadelphia Experiment, Project Blue Book, etc.--why would this time be any different? Imagine the strategic resource represented by a friendly network of mer-people who can silently track and report on the movements of Chinese and Russian submarines. Of course they'd lie about it.

Of course! That's why merpeople have not been seen recently. They are undercover! Good catch!

No mermaids... that's total BS.

They even have their own website.

The American government denies that mermaids exist. That is sheer effrontery! What's next? Will the Americans deny the existence of elves, faeries, trolls, angels, hidden people, devils, and leprechauns? I thought the US government stayed clear of controversy.
BBC News - No evidence of mermaids, says US government
What will we believers do?

So is the US government saying that it has searched the entire universe and left not one stone unturned to prove the non-existence of mermaids? I see a court challenge here.

Oh sorry, it says "no evidence of mermaids", not that they definitely don't exist. So the US has its butt covered so no court case then.
