Montreal police found what may be a human head Sunday afternoon at a public park.
The major crime squad was called to Angrignon Park, which was closed after a suspicious object was found in a pond.
Montreal police spokesperson Anie Lemieux said in a message that “we must wait for results of analysis that will be done over the next few days” or even a week. She added that it was too early to confirm if what was found was a human body part.
The major crime squad is the division investigating the death of Concordia University student Jun Lin. The Chinese national is believed to have been killed in late May.
Angrignon Park is located at the end of a subway line in the city’s south end, and is about a 15-minute drive from the apartment where police believe Jun Lin was slain.
His torso was found in a suitcase in a Montreal alley, while his hands and feet were mailed to Conservative Party and Liberal Party headquarters in Ottawa and to two Vancouver schools.
His head has yet to be found.
Luka Rocco Magnotta was arrested in Berlin and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.
